Don't Judge me!!!

Ive been meaning to pull the trigger on one of those myself. I know i might get some sideways glances from the father-in-law when we go out for gophers...

I got my eye on all you .22lr operators........

Just kidding, have fun plinking...... not my thing but go each their own.....

Hahahha...yes indeedy...I just got the .22 plinking bug over Christmas holidays LOL

Sure I have an old Cooey single shot and an old Remington tube feed semi, but I always wanted another semi and a bolt .22 mag.

Now I have both.

Oh man...
You have a backpacking/collapsible .22 project thread/review and now an SR.22 addiction.
I don't judge, my deepest and most sincere respects to your wallet though.

^It's not your father-in-law's opinion that matters~it's the gopher's...and they won't likely mind it one bit. At first. :)

so here is the thing.
i noticed that i had picked up a couple items this Christmas season and thought to myself.... i should probably not tell the wife about the SR.
i mean - i WILL tell her about the SR but i need to work up to it.
my plan was to wait until she said something like "i wish i had gotten this for Christmas" or "what i could have used this Christmas was....."
than go get the item - give it to her and when she says "oh, but now i feel bad because you got me something extra!"
and i could swoop in and save the day and be like "no no, no need to worry i have a little something for myself ive had my eye on"
then i could just go out to the shop and bring in the SR and problem solved.

unfortunately im frigg'n horrible at lying and i let it slip i had a new rifle out in the shop 2 days after i got it.
i was laying in bed talking with my wife and recounting to her how my father had been ticked off and wanting that SR rifle that like i had picked up...... oppps, cats out of the bag!

i suppose it could be worse.... my co-workers wife set a cap on how many guns he can have in total.
and he is capped.
so if he wants a new gun he has to sell off another first.

me, i just need to keep buying the wife jewelry and i can keep feeding my addiction!

Get in to shooting they say... great way to pass time they say... all you have to do is trade your money, jewels and husbandry dignity.
Cheers to a good choice!
It's totally worth it, I'll sign up everytime.

SR22 is great fun on steel. Replaced the lawyer approved factory trigger with a VQ drop in trigger, what a difference.

Well, I don't have one, so it can't be any good. :p You guys need to quit posting that stuff, or I might have to come down off my miniature horse and actually think about giving consideration to maybe looking at one.

One like that would look good in amongst all my "fudd" stuff! :nest:

so, couple things.
did a complete take down of my SR tonight and cleaned up in guts.
i am SOOOOO not impressed with Rugers quality control this last year or so when it comes to the insides of the 10/22's!

so 5 brand new 10/22's came through my place this last month (charger was from summer).
1 new take down for me, 1 for a co-worker, 1 SR22 for me and 1 for my dad and 1 ruger charger for me (had to see what all the fuss was about)

the over spray on the inside of the recievers is BRUTAL.
it always has been but wow..... just wow!
and the bolts.... what the hell is up with ruger bolts!
they look rusty!!!!!

all of the 5 bolts ive seen of late all have a patina too them.

so cleaned up the over spray with some 1500 grip wet paper and then wire brushed the bolt and did a little polish too it.
decided since i was out in the shop id have some fun as well, color filled the ruger and decals on both sides for giggles.
also painted the front flip up sight white than orange to make it stand out more.
so far really liking the gun.
also did some dremel work and did the auto bolt release mod (works good, im getting better every time!)
and swapped out the charging handle for a Dlask one i had laying around with a scull on it (seems to fit gun motif)

things on order:
single point sling plate AR
single point bungee sling

things going to order:
full length top rail
bottom rail.... unsure of length... and a foregrip
optics (undecided so far)
barrel shroud

thats all im gonna do to it.

pics anyone?

here is the bolt before

Let the addiction commence!

I found the interchangeability of AR parts with the existing huge 10/22 aftermarket just too tempting to stay at one.

ok, so im done for now!

i put on the Dlask rail set, full length top, full length side's and a half length bottom.
slapped a magpul front grip on it.
put on a metal paddle mag release.
did the bolt release mod.
painted the inlay colors, then did them again with red on the ruger symbol - cause i was feeling spicy!
put a barrel shroud on the front to give it that 'suppressed look'
cleaned up the bolt and polished, also the same for the inside of the receiver.

so im done playing with this gun for now.
im really liking it, feels great in the hands and shoots great!

now sure if or what optics i might put on it, im kinda enjoying the Ruger iron's for now.
thinking i might put a UTG Bug Blaster on it??? i got a couple on order so im gonna see how they look when they get here.

nice gun, kinda pissed i didnt pick one up sooner!!!
