How does it group?
When my Dad was a kid he took his Father's 300 Savage 99 out to shoot at a yote. He slipped in the ditch and rammed the barrel into the ground. 
He didn't know any better way to get all that dirt out than to fire a round out of it!
Grampa could never figure out why all of a sudden his rifle wouldn't hit beans.
It didn't blow up thank goodness but the rifling must have been destroyed.
This is why I always have a piece of electrical tape on the barrel muzzle. It also helps the bluing stay on the crown.
Hope no one got hurt Rembo.

I have seen this happen once before. Coincidence? I think not!
Bugs Bunny shoved a carrot in the muzzle of Yoshimite Sam's rifle.
In fact, I have seen it happen to Sam more than once, so I just don't understand why he hasn't learnt to check for obstructions as part of his personal safety check.
I shout and warn him to watch out every time, but he never listens!

That's good. A PH I worked on (snow in the muzzle) had the barrel shatter into 5 pieces, nothing left of the rifle in front of the receiver ring, metal or wood. Shooter was wearing a heavy mitt on his left hand, fortunately. Stock on the Savage disappeared, too, barrel split vertically like the one in your photo, fortunately the shooter had the rifle rested across the seat of his snowmoblile, and was not gripping the stock. On a Sako, the barrel split laterally, so the stock was OK. Saw a number of PHs with pieces of the muzzles blown off. It would be really easy to lose fingers, if they were in proximity to a failure like that.
