But then I'll have to pick up brass, iiiiccccckkkk and I'll feel dirty after that..............

Welcome to my world.......muahahahhaa

Well, when you do take possession of that baby, hell, I might make a trip to abby for skills and drills....heeh

You didn't answer my question Rob Re: the rotary barrel akin to that of the K100....??

oops sorry Ken, yeah the K100 has a rotary barrel similar to the Cougar. As far as I know the Cougar was one of, if not the, first to have the rotary barrel.
I'm looking forward to playing with it as soon as I get it. Have a bunch of .45 sitting here waiting to go!

Slavex,

First of all congrats. It is a great little gun. I am sure you will get a bit of attention at the range, but I understand that is nothing new. :D

Did they make the pistol especially for you? The reason I ask is that it has an extended barrel but it does not appear to be threaded. Other than for people living in communist countries, why would they make an extended barrel that is not threaded?

this gun is one of a run that was made for a California Law Department trial. they wanted the longer (they call it 4 inch) barrel. Probably for velocities or something.
Anyhow there was an overrun of guns and a number hit the civilian market. A lot of guys on Beretta forum had them and one guy in particular had a few (he's a collector). I got him to measure one and it came to just over 105mm. At the time I was thinking that 106mm was the legal length. Then almost a year later I was doing some reading and remembered that in fact 105+ is legal. So off went the money and up came the gun.
If anyone else is interested I might be able to hook you up. He has an extra barrel for me (the long one) and I could get that installed into a regular 8045. Total cost on this, all fees and taxes included is just shy of $800 USD

+1...does the rotating barrel replace the rifling??

What? Is that a joke comment?

Rotating barrel is about the lock up mech...as opposed to most hand guns with a tilting barrel to unlock from the slide.

Sorry not everyone is as smart as you:rolleyes:

The York Regional Popo's carry the cougar here in toronto or something that looks identical to it.

Alot of them seem to be carrying them for some reason. At first I thought it was a 92 but there definetly cougars?

Are they pretty much a copper gun? because thats the only place I seem to see them?

they came out just after the short barrel ban I believe. so none were available for import. I've worked my bag off to get this one. VPD has/had a bunch for plainclothes guys from what I understand, all in .40. As far as I know there are none in Canada in .45, perhaps in an LE Distributors stock maybe, but definitely not in Civy hands.

The ones I see all the time are not .45 so they must be .40 like you said and there being carried by there uniformed guys though. I dont know what the plainclothes carry they hide them really well when we "get together"

Yorks a fairly new police force in comparison to the others interesting to know how they came about getting the nifty toys.

Maybe its a trial thing?? But alot seem to be using them for some reason

Hmm, interesting gun. Have you shot it yet? How does rotating barrel compare recoil-wise to a more conventional .45?

Don't actually have it yet, that's a pic from Questar. From what I've been told the rotating barrel makes significant difference in recoil.
