Triggers are normally separated slightly (about 1/8") on double shotguns. While they both pivot on a common pivot, the finger portion of the rear trigger starts father back on the blade which is inside the gun so that functionally the triggers are inline. On original guns from around 1800, the separation may be greater side to side but they still are functionally inline
