Double Defense O/U!

Well, for real tactical uses yes, a pump would be better but...i'll compare to a generic 870 for example.

-My hs-12 with 18.5" barrels is as long as an 870 with 14" barrels.
-HS-12 weighs alot less than even a 14" 870.
-I can dissasemble this O/U in 5 seconds to 3 pieces longest about 19". I can fit this thing into a regular school backpack if i wanted to and re-assemble in just another 5 seconds.
-There's something to be said about simplicity.
-comes with fiber optic front sight and screw in chokes already.

That's not to say its BETTER, but in some ways its more CONVENIENT depending on your use.
I've owned plenty of pumps from 1897 trenchgun to 14" 870 tactical to m12's etc...each has its use.
I still like this thing alot for the reasons stated above.

boomboom is faster than boom chick chick boom.

a large mag cap is not needed for well really anything in practical uses unless you are a bad shot or there are a billion zombies coming.

plus for over unders you can get those fast reload shell holders, I hear they are real fast to reload with.

I guess they are a quick 2 shots but I'm pretty fast with my pump actions and I'm no tactically trained expert. I can see the value of your arguments concerning a SxS but the O/U in the OP has you messing with 12g and 20g, I don't see that as being very advantageous. If you do miss or need a second volley, you are fumbling with different sized shells, maybe in the dark that sounds like a recipie for disaster IMO.

The gun is available in 20g or 12g, however it is not a hybrid 12/20 guage...you'll only be fumbling with 1 shell size.

wtf its either 12g or 20g neither has different calibers.

In a Canadian context where things go bump in the night and you are loading a shotgun in the dark in your jammies, would I be right in thinking that a SxS is more fumble-proof than a pump?
With a pump you have to hold the shell sideways and so on.
I don't have both to do a comparison.

In the USA a loaded pump would be the thing, but we have to fiddle aboot.
