Got to go out again friday morning.

Im not going to write as much as I did last time. There you go Hoytcanon :p

Walked out to a river Ive called a few yotes from before. Fired up the Hellfire and after around the 6minute mark I catch this guy running across the river to get to the caller.

After I get him back to the edge of the river for a photo shoot. I hear one howlin from where this one just came from. Pulled out a Carver and howled back and saw a coyote down the river. Fired up the Hellfire again and here comes another one running down the river.

My photo shoot position.

Stopped by the farm I was at on monday and chatted with the farmer and he said he just had another calf, so I went back out and called. Called one in (maybe the same guy) but he wasnt hungry or something. He kind of was hidden behind a bush. As he was walkin away I dropped one on him and I think it was a Texas hart shot. lol He jumped and took off. Tracked for abit but got sick of the bush and hills and let him go.

Another good day in my books

thx

I had a good week with 7.5 yotes down. heh I think I might be getting all the young dumb ones right now though. It seems like there lots of yote this year. A couple of the places Ive been to had a major amount of tracks. Thats fine by me. :)

At first I was thinking that the 243 was going to be to much for coyotes, but after yesterday these three were all fine with no major damage. In the one pic with both of em behind my rifle it looks like the one on the right was busted up pretty good from the bullet passing through, but after dragging it back to the truck it cleaned all the blood off the fur and was barely a hole there.

Should be back out monday or tuesday

Good shooting! I agree there may be an abundance of Coyotes, and I think they are hungry too. Not many deer around for them to get. A co worker of mine had a cow die on them and they seen 16 Coyotes eating it! I need to get my darn Foxpro fired up one of these days!

Nice looking dogs, they all look healthy! We all need to get out this winter as much as possible and do our part to bring their population in check! The deer population was down this year but while out deer hunting I still saw plenty of coyote and wolf tracks! If they can`t find enough prey this winter they will be turning to livestock and pets to survive!

So far the yote Ive seen have all been healthy, but since it seems like there alot around these days Im expecting to start seeing some mange. I hope not though

No problem

I love going out for coyotes. Just trying to out smart is fun, sometimes. :p

I also like writing this stuff so just maybe that it makes someone else write about their trips out in the fields.

cheers

If you don`t mind me asking, what bullet were you using out of your .243?

Im shooting the nosler 70gr BT

These last two days out Im realizing that you have to take that extra second to make sure of shot placement. If your shot placement is good these rounds work great.

I fully agree, if you want to keep the pelt damage to a minimum you have to avoid the big bones of the shoulder and upper leg! I put a 300 gr .45/70 bullet behind the shoulder of a coyote at about 80 yards a few years ago and was pleasantly surprised to find a .458 diameter entrance and exit wound!
