At long last I am posting my story as my way of saying thank you to Josko at DoubleTap Sports. I originally tried to buy a STI Trojan from a northern B.C. Dealer but got tired of waiting for no reply. My purchase and application to register took less than 24 hours. Unfortunately B.C. CFO took three weeks but on the day it was approved, the Trojan was shipped arriving in B.C. only a few days later. I was the expecting father awaiting the birth of my new baby. The pictures show the baby arriving from the hospital and the actual birth scene all wet with oil from the womb. Out it came and a quick wipe revealed all its beauty. And beautiful it was. Beautiful finish, and extremely tight. After a complete disassembly, and some judicious polishing of the moving parts with a tweak here and there and behold, a very crisp 3.5 LB. trigger pull was easy to achieve. Factory was around 5 LB. Took it to the range but only one brand of 147 gr 9mm ammo to try so not very scientific test of accuracy. Four rounds held tight but I flinched on the fifth. Oh well. Gonna keep the story short, but needless to say, I have never had such a smooth and fast transaction for any firearm as with Josko from Double Tap Sports. The wife thinks he is also one of the best looking dealers out there. I can't comment on that but she does have good taste. Please enjoy the pics.

Awesome! Congrats on the new baby. I'm looking at eventually getting a 1911 in 9mm and was considering this model.

You can't go wrong. I think it is as good or better than the other big name pistols I looked at for much more money. The Trojan might be the best choice for the money. I had no bias when doing my research and this one looked best in my opinion.

Man, that is one fine looking pistol. I love it when photos are taken with near perfection - even with a little splash of colour with the pink flowers to the bottom right. I"ve just bought a new camera myself and this has inspired me to take some ###y photos of my firearms for my own personal satisfaction. Ever since I started buying handguns I've suffered from idolatry, and must repent from my sinning ways, as found in Exodus 20 "Thou shalt have no other gods before me".

So shall my next purchase be an STI, SIG, or Kimber 1911? I would love a Dan Wesson bobtail but there is likely no chance of being able to find one in Canada.

Why not just buy them all, I mean every 1911 out there possibly available to man? Just like this guy, scroll down, way down (and find out what this filthy idolator has been up to, and then suffer from envy, another carnal sin - doh!)

It appears Dlask is selling bobtail backstraps for 1911's.

The blued backstraps would go perfectly with the STI Trojan. https://www.dlaskarms.com//product_...d=414&osCsid=ecc7ad91a693cdd579e1ac134856ebbe

They are the same as the Ed Browns at Midway. I was hoping to try out irunguns.com for once, as the export fee has been dropped on in-stock product since July.

They have the Trojan in a .45, but I don't want to turn around and spend another $450.00 on ammo. As of yet I've only been shooting 9mm, and I'll probably keep it that way as long as ammo prices keep on galloping. I could just skip the conversion on the Trojan into a bobtail, find an FFL dealer that will transfer to I Run Guns LLC, and buy the Dan Wesson bobtail that I've been dreaming of. It could get really pricey though, so thanks for the suggestion of converting to a bobtail. I never knew of such a thing until now. I've now given myself 2 months to make a decision (that's when I'll have enough money tucked away to make the purchase). I'll see what is available then and make a decision. It is nice to know that there are options. Everywhere I look the Trojan receives accolades so I'll eventually have to get one. My fear is that my wife will put her foot down when she sees how much fun I am having and won't let me buy another 1911. I must choose wisely as if I will never have another chance. A few hundred bucks difference is not the issue; I just want to have a warm and fuzzy feeling inside every time I pick it up. If that feeling comes at a cheaper price, that's all the better.

I swapped out the factory grips for some Hogues and installed a factory magwell purchased from Reliable in Vancouver. I chose this one as the magwell is removable with one screw in case i want to shoot it in a class that does not allow magwells. It works great. My last upgrade will be fibre optic front sight. Then it should be perfect.

The Trojan comes with one 9 round mag. I added six Chip McCormic Cobra 10 round mags purchased from Northern Republic. NOTE : Willson 10 round 9mm mags did not work at all with 147 gr. or even 124 gr. bullets. They would not take 10 rounds without getting all jammed up. Stay away from the Wilson mags for 9mm.

Thanks, last item will be a fiber optic front sight. Helps with crappy eyesight. I love this gun so much, I might have to get rid of my CZ Tactical Sport. Kinda redundant now.

Nice looking gun. I just picked up an STI Spartan .45acp from the EE, I'm VERY pleased with it. Can't imagine how much more I'd like a Trojan :D

PS you say that is the factory STI magwell? I'm in the market for one for IPSC/IDPA

Yes, the magwell is a STI accessory. Freedom ventures should carry them.

Never thought of naming it. I don't usually do that, even if "Sheik" might be funny.
