hey group. I recently purchased off the board(thanks zuke!)a 22" sporter contoured barrel made by the predecessor to Green Mountain. I am toying with the idea, since I want to stay with open sights, of having dovetails milled to accept a set of tech sights. it seems nigh on impossible to find an aftermarket bbl that comes from the maker with provisions for a front sight. now I know to get the best from a match bbl, a scope is normally the way to go. I hate scopes. I like my guns clean and clutter free, and I think I can still take advantage of the increase in accuracy over the ruger bbl. who else has taken this route?

the barrel in question is the one second from the bottom

I would only trust this particular barrel to a proper gunsmith, several of which we have in Calgary. I dropped the barrel off last night at the calgary shooting centre to have the dove-tail added so we'll find out in a couple weeks what the cost will be.

I'm just throwing an idea here, but have you considered having the barrel drilled and tapped for a bolt on front Tech Sight meant for a Marlin or a Remington?

I would think that you could save some money by having the barrel drilled and tapped for a front ramp, which would then accommodate whatever sight blade you wanted.
