Dovetail slot blanks

I have just added a bunch of peep sights to my rifles. In the process of this i had to remove a bunch of buckhorn sights which leaves a dovetail slot in the barrel. I was curious where I could find filler pieces or if there was a kit I could buy with all the sizes of dovetail filler slots

I used to buy a length of 3/8" dovetail blank (blued) from Brownells. 12" I think it was. Then I cut them to fit and cold blued the fresh ends.

Marbles, and others, make finished blanks specifically for that reason.
The are called a dovetail sight blank.
Guntech's suggestion works well, as that method allows for a custom fit and finish.

Skinner’s Sights sells them and ships to Canada. I’ve also picked up old rear sights and cut off the dovetail, polish and blue the cut edge.

Skinner and Brownell - US$8 apiece and up. Ouch!
I'd be inclined to use the Brownell blank as suggested by guntech, or altering old rear sights as suggested by Peecos. I've done the latter, works well.

Brownells, Skinner, here on this site, Eagle Firearms - they're easy to find if you just Google it for a Canadian seller. You can make a fancier one pretty easy from an old Winchester 94 rear sight too - dremel it down to a nice diamond shape above the dovetail and a dab of cold blueing on the shiny edge.

To start though, I'd place a WTB ad on the sights/optics forum.
