Need a replacement front sight for a 22 and none of the 3/8" dovetailed sights that I have here fit in the dovetail it's smaller than 3/8". Any of you smiths know the size of the smaller dovetail below 3/8"?

Just start filing a bit off the bottom of the new sight and testing frequently till it fits.
Should go in from the right side to the left when looking at the top of the barrel with the muzzle facing away from you.

I have, it measures .250 but who makes a sight with that size of a dovetail?

Would a military sight like the half of a ramped Mauser be a 1/4" dovetail?

Can't understand why someone would have it dovetailed for something other than 3/8"????

What type of gun is it?
Who made it?

Cool thanks, I live on a border town so U.S. sales only doesn't really bother me to much.

It's for a rimfire that had a couple inches cut off and the new front dovetail was cut for a quarter inch for some reason. If it's to much of a pain in the butt looking for a 1/4" dovetail I might have to get my smith to recut to 3/8".

I think that right there is a winner!

Like as not, the guy that replaced the sight, fitted it with what he had on hand.

Are there signs of milling marks in the dovetail, or does it look to be filed (which as commonly enough done that files were made for the purpose)?
As to picking up parts in the US and bringing them across, be aware. Canada does not much care if you bring gun parts in the US cares a great deal if you take them out. Your call.

Should be pretty cheap and easy for your smith to do, then you can run what ever you want without further modification.
I thought maybe you had a rare gun with a rare cutout and didn't want to alter it......
A dove tail file would do it but it would probably be close to the same price your smith would charge you.
