Hi Guys,

I have a fun little Browning BL-22 for plinking with my kids and would like to mount an Aimpoint T1/T2 on it. I have been searching for mounting solutions and stumbled upon one made by UTG.

Has anyone tried something like this and if so, was it successful? I am trying to mount the red dot as low as I can with a narrow profile. I don't want a large adapter that protrudes longer than the dovetail nor over the sides of the receiver.

Although these are not .22's, here are some examples of the look I am trying to achieve (minus the suppressor of course). Pics borrowed from the world wide web.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I've used the weaver TO-10 rail to add a rail to a dovetailed receiver. The TO-10 has a dovetail on the bottom that slides onto the receiver dovetail; you then lock it down with screws.

The Weaver rails are aluminium. If you needed to, you could probably shorten the rail and drill and countersink new screw holes with common woodworking and hand tools.

I wish Weaver would make available dimensioned drawings of their rails -- all they have on their website is a single photo of a generic rail:

You can see a side view of the TO-10 here:

That thick area to the right in the photo is the dovetail that slides onto the receiver dovetail.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the quick response guys.

The weaver is intriguing as its very low profile which is what I want but I would be hesitant to try and cut it down or tap my receiver for the set screws. I will most definitely keep it as an option though.

The BKL looks like a good quality product for sure. My only reservation is the height of the adapter. Once I mount my red dot on the mount, it will be that much higher than the receiver and might be tough to get a sight picture with a decent cheek weld.

The UTG product looks like it solves both the height and connection point issue, I would just prefer to hear from someone who has tried it and get their honest feedback. As a worst care, It's good to know the BKL is out there.

Thanks again guys, appreciate the suggestions.

Check out j&p custom products in the states. They make delrin adapters that seem to have a low profile. They will ship to Canada, but shipping is pricy. When I checked into them they wanted as much for shipping as the part cost. I'm still tempted by them though.

The broken link is to there 11mm anschutz adapters, should still work. Also check out rimfire central, lots of good info there on adding sights to Henry's.

These will work well for your needs. They come in packs of 2 but you will only need 1.

Ok awesome, these are the exact ones I referenced in my original post. Leapers sells the UTG model, as well as many on eBay. I will give them a shot.

Thanks guys.

If anyone has red dot's mounted on their lever actions, I'd love to see them.

The screws do not go into the receiver -- you do not need to drill and tap holes. The screws just provide some leverage against the portion of the rail that slips onto the dovetail, helping to lock things in place. The whole thing is just a friction / interference fit. I would guess that it is at least as strong as adapters that clamp onto the receiver dovetail from the side.

I have a TO-10 rail on one of my Savage 87's. I'll try to post a photo or two later this afternoon.

Ok cool. I thought it needed some gunsmithing. Looking forward to seeing some pics for reference.

Here are some (really awful!) pictures of the Weaver TO-10 rail mouted on a Stevens 87D.

The front portion of the rail -- the right side of the rail in the photo below -- does not engage the dovetail on the receiver. It sits above and clear of the receiver.

Here's a view of the other side. Note the front -- the left of the photo below -- is clear of the receiver.

In the next two photos, you can see how the dovetail on the rail engages the receiver dovetail. I needed to do some minor fitting to get it to fit -- just carefully filed on the rail with a triangle file with one safe side until it slipped on.

Here is an overall view of the rail showing the two grub screws and the two slots.

The more I think about your original question, the more I think the Weaver TO-10 rail is not at all what you are looking for! I had forgotten about the fact that it only has two slots at the front of the rail, which really limits where you can mount stuff. I had a scope on here before I took the photos and when I saw it I thought "Oh, yeah -- I was never happy with this!" It works on this rifle but it looks wonky.

I think I may order a set of those adapters mentioned in this thread and give those a try!

Thanks for taking the time to post the pics MDF, I appreciate it. I have some of the UTG adapters en route to me so I will test and let you know how they work by early next week. I got them for $21 including shipping to my door from Amazon.ca so pretty low risk.

Be in touch soon.

Thx

Those utg ones look pretty cool, I might have to try a set on one of my 22's. Something else I've looked for without any real success is a dovetail to weaver rail with a 20 moa slope for long range, does anyone know if anything like that exists?
