Down the rabbit hole again with the 9.3x62mm Mauser...

Just keeping you guys 'in the loop' AND taking the opportunity to rant about packages coming East from Western Canada. These packages BYPASS both Toronto & Ottawa, and go on to Montreal (which pads their sorting facility's package volume) AND then requires the package be re-routed back WEST to Ottawa, an additional ~500kms of unnecessary travel, but I digress... (Read: no one can convince me different, there's definitely corruption involved here to pad Montreal's package volume)... Anyway, here's the latest tracking info on my 9.3...

Tomorrow 'maybe', lol!

Aaaaaaaannnnnnnnndddddd, we've hit a 'minor' roadbump... And it's my own fault / ignorance...

The rifle arrived, it's a beauty BUT...

I picked up rings with an 8-40 ring base screw, when I need rings with the 6-48 ring base screw!!!

So, a quick call to my gunsmith & a trip sometime soon will see me getting the right screws and mounting the scope so I can post a pic!

Please standby, we're having 'technical' issues... Chuckle!

There's a site sponsor with the veil camo 300wm and riton scope for 1199. I admit I'm tempted
I saw that to, but I went with a Tikka T3X Lite in 300 WSM after I was so impressed with the Tikka T3X in SuperLite 30-06 I got for Xmas...

The commonality between them all is the Bushnell Elite 4500 2.5-10x40 scope, which I find to be excellent value for the money!

Here's a pic of the 30-06 & 300 WSM...

Jay, out of curiosity, and when you receive your Sauer rifle, can you let us know if the magazines stick or sometimes are difficult to seat into position.
I used to sell those Sauer 100 model rifles, and everyone had magazine seating issues.
When I contacted Sauer in the USA, they actually sent me a spare magazine for every rifle I had in stock, and for every customer that had bought one.
I wonder if this issue has been resolved?
Apparently the manufacturer is aware, or was aware of this problem.
Thanks
Hey Thunderhog, no issues whatsoever with the factory oem OR spare mag. So they have obviously addressed whatever the issue was.

Looks good. Very good. I went the 'inexpensive' route in getting a 9.3x62 and picked up a Zastava full wood model. That being said, I have nothing but praise for my experience with the accuracy of my first few handload efforts.

I haven't had time to load for my 9.3 really yet. It's been out to a few range days with mostly factory ammo. All I got is hornady brass. I'd like to try some better brass before I get serious about loading

ANY Brass works fine for the first reload, and gives you a pretty good idea what load(s) might work. Sure, it is nice to have top-quality brass, but not at all necessary, certainly for load development and range practice. JMOYMV

True I just meant before I get a day to seriously sit down and get it dialed in for hunting I'd want better brass. I just quickly loaded a few to test the 286gr sp rp interlocks vs the factory interlock. I just went with middle of the book spec load.
My rifle does shoot well with factory ammo though

Alright gentlemen, first range trip completed & I am HAPPY!!!

I bore sighted the rifle at 50m. Fired 3 shots, adjusting the scope after each shot, with the 3rd shot landing about a 1/2" low of bullseye.

Took the rifle to 100m and the 1st shot was low, just off the splatter target. Adjusted the scope & fired the 3 shot group on the right. Adjusted again & fired the 3 shot group on the left. HAPPY!!!

Keep in mind that I'm no sniper, a decent shot yes, but... You get the idea. AND, I only have the Hornady ammunition, so I am pleased with the results! Oh, and 10 shots with the "Black Beauty" was enough off the bench lol! Recoil is more than my 35 Whelen, but less than my 300 WSM which I find has a very sharp recoil pulse.

Thanks for following along down the rabbit hole guys, I've enjoyed the whole process of sourcing another 9.3x62, albeit NOT a semi!!!

Cheers
Jay

Sounds similar to my situation.
I just sighted in my t3x the other day using the same ammo, did 3 shots first to confirm the sights were on which they were, after that I put on a vx3i 1.5-5 which brought they weight up to just 6 lbs 14 oz
Fired another 7 shots for a 3 inch high zero at 100 yards, glad I didn't have to shoot more than 10 rounds for the day, that was enough for me anyway for such a lightweight.
But then again it's meant to be a hunting rifle so carried lots and fired little, regardless tho I have a wood "hunter" stock coming in I'll be looking forward to swapping over for a bit of extra weight and to minimize some of the plastic on the rifle
