Down to 2 choices a .223 Savage or Mossberg

Thanks but have no interest is spending almost double for a truck gun having a family means I have a budget I have no worries the Savage will not do as I need.

Ruger American is ~$450, Weatherby ~$600. Then add scope, rings, mounts to that. I would get the Weatherby if I could afford it, but I couldn't so I too got a Savage.

Yeah the Savage will do it for me, just ordered it for 479.00 it was 100.00 more than the AXIS but has a 20" threaded barrel and back up iron sights.

The money I saved buying the Savage .223 Hog Hunter platform allowed me to order an adjustable cheek rest, bipod, muzzle brake, sling, picatinny 3 rail set, and a picatinny scope rail.

Looking forward to this short stout setup, the Savage Forum says sub MOA what more do I want. :)

Will get some pics up when I finish the build and shoot some groups.

We went to the range for a test and my friend likes his MVP.
The MVP handles well comfortable to shoot. If I was just going to shoot critters I would go Savage but just going to the range and plinking the MVP works well.
I wouldn't expect the accuracy of a high end bolt gun but its chambered in 5.56. I will get one when I can afford it.

Got the last Savage .223 Hog Hunter for 479.00, should be here Tuesday!

So will the front sling picatinny bipod mount, and picatinny scope rail. Already got the cheek riser, Atlas bipod, muzzle brake is on its way as well.

Can hardly wait to try her out.

You did.......good.

Can fire cheap Norc 556 ammo, ar mags and its a tack driver .5moa love it. Mvp Varmint is a nice gun bolt might be sloppy but cycles fine who cares. Stocks on the cheap savages suck bad.

Wasn't overly impressed with the Mossberg Patrol poly stock either and the rifle sights seemed a bit blingy....

The Mossberg bolt is a new unproven design that also concerned me, so I went with tried and true but still liked the MVP for the concept.
