downloading .308win to 30-30 levels

What powder and how many grains does it take to download a .308win to 30-30 levels?
I'm particularly interested in varget + imr4895 loads. I know 43 grains is a complete pussy cat low recoil load and super accurate with varget in my rifle. Not sure how that compares to 30-30 though!?

I have used 3031 at 44 gr and 125gr Nosler BT the kids really liked shooting this load, step son shoot a nice bear several years ago with this load out of a remmy 600.

I would just use .30-30 load data in the .308 cases. It will produce slightly lower pressure, velocity, and recoil since the .308 case has a larger volume. Just make sure you keep the bullet weight consistent.

Although more 762x39ish than 30-30,I 've had great results with 26 grn of imr 4227 and 125grn sierra pro hunters. very accurate out of my x bolt

I've put together some reduced loads for my buddy to try on his sons rifle.
I used Noslers 125 grain bullets backed up by 38 grns of IMR 4320.
Seems like a good combination.
Once the lad gets accustomed to the rifle and loads, we plan on upping the powder.

When my kids were 10, their 308 shot 125s with 36gr 4895. Accurate to 600 yards and mild recoil.

You can go even lighter.....

Some powders like Unique are great for cast/plated plinkers if that is what you are after.

34gr of H4895 topped with a nosler hunting ballistic tip is what my missus packs for deer hunting... About as much recoil as a hot .223.
...you can use trail boss as well for mouse fart loads in the .308... Bullet choice and appropriate size game should be kept in mind.

As said before tho, just use 30-30 data in the .308 case.

a SPRN or plated berry's would be my pick then tweak the load up a bit till it shoots nice.
