Downrange Precision - Julian Bourgeois ?????

Rifle arrived this morning. CZ 527 American in 17 Hornet, which I had sent to Julien Bourgeois at Downrange Precision in Gunn Alberta in February 2016 for a cerakote and glass bed job. Note Canada Post shipping date, Friday Dec9th (17 days after he texted me and said rifle is on its way)

Rifle was not cerakoted, which is fine, he couldn't do the work and was going to send back the rifle. I didn't pay him any deposit for the work.

Hmmm in a ziploc is factory CZ rings. Weird, I sent him Warne vertical split rings to get cerakoted same color as barreled action.

My rifle had a decent ding in the forestock from when I got it new in 2013. I used wood filler to fix. Weird there is no ding in this stock

My rifle I had purchased and installed Hex head screws from https://www.jnpgunsprings.com/#!/CZ-MODEL-527-PARTS/c/20995113/offset=0&sort=normal

This rifle I received today has OEM slotted screws.

I'm not sure what happened to the rifle I sent to Julien Bourgeois at Downrange Precision but he either sold it, lost it, or ? He did get me what appears to be a NIB 17 Hornet 527 American. I'm glad I got a rifle back, now I'll have to reorder some new action screws and firing pin spring from JnP springs in USA.

I always record the serial #'s when I send stuff out on the off chance there is a fu.

You will be happy with Terry at Blackart, good work and stands behind it as well.

LOL, was it in a new factory box with the owners manual as well??

in a CZ box but no manual. He texted me back and said when he bedded the action the stock split and a new one was ordered from CZ. Can't explain why the action screws are different, he says he used what it came with. ( I turfed the slotted heads years ago when I received the Hex heads, so I know what was shipped with my rifle. )

He said he found the Warne rings in his drawer last night and will ship them out today.

what story does the serial number tell???

This just gets better and better. :) so was any work completed on either rifle?

No work done which is fine, he said he couldn't do the jobs because of family priorities. Although he apparently tried to bed the CZ? :)

I had a pic of my SN# on my old phone but no longer. Never would of imagined needing it, he was always top notch with my early dealings with him, and a CZ 527 American in 17 Hornet isn't a common rifle. I'm 93% sure the rifle I got today in the mail is not mine. I ordered new hex heads and a new firing pin spring today so when the parts come I will know once I disassemble bolt body and install new spring, if its a OEM or aftermarket

Wow is all I can say. He did a rebarrel on one of my rifles... Its probably my fault for not specifying exactly to the T on what I wanted. when I picked up my rifle the barrel was still polished and not bead blasted to match the matte on the receiver but the biggest issue was he said he cleaned up the trigger and made it lighter. When I went to shoot it for the first time I flicked off the safety and the firing pin released, luckly the chamber was empty... Also when the rifle was finished I asked him what I owed him for the work he did. he gave me the price and we both agreed to it, When I picked up the rifle and I went to pay him it was almost 600$ more than the original price he told me a few days before. I had kept the text of what he told me I owed, showed him it and only charged me the original price. Good thing for good guys like double gun who helped me out a lot and finished my rifle for me...

hmmm ejector is missing on this 17Hornet :) But he has it...will ship it to me.

But he has it, or will buy one and ship it?

Something about this stinks... Makes me really happy I finally sat down and recorded all of my SN# last weekend in a binder...

Correct me if I am wrong, but you should be able to verify that this is/isn't your gun by checking the firing pin spring? Any particular reason you haven't done this?
