Thanks to the help of the CGN members, I was able to successfully downsize new Lapua .308 brass to 7-08.
Apart from being shorter, I also notice that the case length to the shoulder is 10 thou less than a fired 7-08 case. Also, runout on the neck averages 4 to 6 thou after downsizing(it was 1-2 thou before).
My question then: is it worth starting load development with these cases as they are, or is it better to fireform first?
