DPMS, Bushmaster, Storm Lake, and Tapco are closing their doors.

Sad for those losing their jobs...but these were not high end/high quality, good QC brands either...especially after Remington (Freedom Group) took over...can't say I am too surprised. Look at Marlin, yearsss of LOL/depressing QC after they took over. They never did anything with the ACR, parts were hard as #### to find if needed, even for our USA brothers.

SAD!!!

I’ll miss the Tapco mags. They felt beefier than pmags. Not saying they were better, just felt better.

This is what happens when the company is run by lawyers and share holders....maybe now it will get back into private hands...:)

If one was speculating on the scenario that led to the closure of the aforementioned companies would it be more along the lines of:

A) A shift in the marketplace away from the kinds of products those subsidiaries of Remington were selling
B) The quality (poor or otherwise) of the products being sold
C) The pricing of the products

I am just trying to understand as I always see Bushmaster and Tapco stuff stocked in a lot of the online retailers inventory and this seems baffling to me.

I actually laughed at this :p

DPMS never really produced anything I cared about. The Oracle was always a very bad AR especially compared to other inexpensive models in the same price range. And yeah, Tapco will go unmourned by me. At least we'll always have their Israeli cousin, FAB

What makes the Oracle a bad AR to you? I've put thousands of rounds through one before with zero issues.

Honestly, The oracle with its aluminum gas block and airsoft handguard was terrible. I swapped those parts on mine and now its not only my lightest 16"AR but the ###iest C8 clone I've seen at the range. Some definite Bias here (with it being the first AR I bought.) Good rifle IMO.
