DPMS LR-308 Bolt Headspace Question

I am debating purchasing a barrel and BCG separately in Canada or sourcing a matched set from the US and waiting a couple months. Being impatient as I am I lean towards sourcing in Canada and taking my chances on headspace upon assembly. My question; if you source components from quality manufacturers, what are the chances you'll end up with a paperweight? 1/10, 1/100, 1/10000? I would think the receiver extension pilot is another variable but just trying to get an idea of the probability of incompatible parts for this pattern.

If you buy a dpms bcg and a dpms-style barrel........the headspace should be ok, but you should check with gauges anyway. Ar10/AR-308 are not quite as standardized as Ar15s are.

If you go with an AR10 (armalite) pattern barrel (uses a longer gas tube), use an Armalite BCG.

Sometimes mixing and matching works, but sometimes it doesn't.

Even if your headspace is a little long, it doesn't necessarily mean the gun will be a paperweight. Keep in mind, AR10/AR308 barrels chambered in 7.62 have a slightly longer max headspace dimension than .308Win chambered barrels, so if you use a .308 no-go gauge to check it, it might fail. But that doesn't mean the gun will blow up. It'll just beat up the brass a little worse than it already would have (308 ARs tend to be rough on brass to begin with).
