Sadly yes. It was the only match I've been able to attend to date... it was my qualifier... it was Russellmania 2006... it was my first stage... it was a doorway... I was sad... :(

I got off exactly 7 rounds... my total round count in IPSC to date... did I mention I was sad?:( :( :(

No DQ's so far.... knock on wood. As I'm still getting used to the 'game', I will give up time in exchange for no DQ's.

I look at each stage and try to find traps where I might get DQ'ed, and plan around it. I'm sure I won't worrry as much with practice. But will always be aware!

 3 in 16 years of IPSC - All deserved.

Last on one was on my second stage of the Vancouver Nats - pushing too hard for my abilities.
A really long way to go and a lot of money to shoot 24 rounds. Expensive lesson learned.

Just a little thing I've noted some RO's think of Dq's as notches on a gunbutt.
I did once meet one like that and made sure he would not officiate at anything serious again.

Those ROS should be reported to the president of NROI.

That's not the attitude we teach, and it's not the attitude we want out there.

3.75;)
(2) local Michigan matches
(1)2001 Barrie provincials, third stage in. Drove up the morning of the shoot so it was a long day waithing for everyone else to finish
(.5)Was DQ'd at Edmonton Nats for an hour or so but Arbi'd back in.
(.25)And a really close call at the '05 Florida Open in the safety area, had 1 round in a mag that I took out of my back pocket and threw in my bag. I thought I was far enough away, the RM didn't.
There are only those who have and those who are going to be, If you never get DQ'd then you were not pushing your limits hard enough.

Not yet, but lots of close calls, mostly for 90 rule.
I had some warnings for my trigger finger positition during a reload as well, after I explained that I do my mag change with my trigger finger it was clarified/cleared up. Finger can't be in two places at once.

Edmonton...now remind me (memories not so good anymore)

Was that overturned DQ...for

(a) shooting out the back of Kiwis Bar, or
(b) The fancy spinning draw from the chair...good thing the RO didn't have his seeing eye dog that day

I see your 3.75 and raise to another .50.

Besides...all the cool guys get DQ'd at the Naionals :dancingbanana:

it was the fancy cowboy spinning draw that Madness is talking about. he could've made it into the Matrix with that draw!

I had that happen during my Black Badge course with one of my instructors and since then whenever I step up to the line I tell the RO that I drop mags with my trigger finger.

Hey Clammy are you planning on coming out to any of the IPSC matches at the RA Center? We have to get your Qualifier out of the way and start having fun.

I don't know about the matrix but I would have been a shoe-in for blazing saddels.
"(a) shooting out the back of Kiwis Bar,"?? don't remeber that, you sure that was me?

Nope not you - the bar shoot out was another DQ that got reversed, and that might have led to the confusion.

The bar shooter was a gentleman from Alberta - Edmonton, I believe.

And I kept my promise - the pictures of the other thing are not around ;)

Never managed to get myself DQ'd, but had to hand one out that I still regret.

It was the 92 or 93 Sharon Open, and the stage was set up on range 5. A nifty little stage, the shooter was placed kneeling at the back of an old pick up modified to look like a half track. The carb jets were cranked up a bit, so the driver just took his foot off the gas and idled uprange in a serpentine course, exposing targets left and right. A nifty little fixed time stage.

Only problem was, the course designer didn't expect to get a bunch of giraffes shooting. What should have been a no-brainer turned into a nightmare. A guy who was from Ontario but had moved out to BC, flew back for the match. Standing about 6 foot 7, he tried to take advantage of his height by bracing his feet and leaning out of the back so he'd see the targets sooner and have a longer target exposure time. Unfortunately, on the most severe turn of the course his gun was pointing at least 10 degrees beyond 90.

I felt like a complete ####### for having to bag him for it.

45% of the people who answered the poll have been DQ'd......
The anti's who visit here....and yes they do.....just got themselves a new statistic......

45% of IPSC shooters polled admit to being unsafe with their firearms

No...it means safety is the primary concern.

Exactly............people are DQ'd when they do something that is on the verge of being unsafe...

That is why we have the rules we have.

That is why we have R/Os watching the competitors every move.

Only 1 DQ here, back in 1991.

Sucked driving 8 hours and then getting a DQ on the last stage of the day.....

It was a typical BC match, raining cats and dogs, I was on deck and had just taken off my raincoat (turns out it pulled my 1911 outta the holster a little) was taking one last look at the target groups and the 1911 fell out of my holster onto the ground.....Oops. Hoping that nobody was looking I picked it up and reholstered it, but the RO was paying attention and had to send me home.

Shortly after that the rulebook was updated and a gun falling out of the holster while not during a course of fire would not have earned me a DQ, but me picking it up and reholstering it without a RO supervising would have still earned me a DQ....

Actually the DQ was kinda nice as I finally got to get out of the rain :)
