"Dragunov" CZ-858? Is it possible? Thoughts please....

Hey everyone...


I was inspired by Llungman to try something different with my CZ858 (check out his pics of the CZ with an AK stock) - basically to try and mount a Dragunov style stock from a WASR-10 on it. It would normally be for a stamped type of AK reciever - but - I'm wondering if this stock could be modified to fit the CZ, or if I'm right out to lunch. The reason I thought I might try it, was that I'm mounting a 4X8 Russian scope on the stock, and I have always found a dragunov stock comfortable to shoot with.

PLEASE - NO FLAME POSTS ABOUT BUBBAing - or 'why would you want to do that? ' I'm looking for some honest input into the possibility of mounting this type of stock on a CZ - not a debate on altering its original look. Here is the stock I'm considering -

Anything is possible. The true question here is, how much work and modification will it take?

When decided to do drastic modifcations I use this formula:
T + E = P, where T is the value for how much time the mod takes. E is the effort exerted. Finally, P is the pay off. The value of T + E should be less than P for the mod to go ahead.
 
I'm have no knowledge on how you would go about it, but I think it's a cool project! Paired with some 5 rd mags and a scope that setup could look pretty mean.
 
Thats the idea - that I'd get my hands on some 5 rounders...currently I only have 30/5 mags that came with the rifle. The stock is listed as a $10 US purchase, so I'll try and get one if the company will ship it to me.
 
I think you are out to lunch with that stock. I think it would be better to make one from scratch.
You might find that the original stock will be fine for using a scope, I find it perfect with a red dot, why not wait and see ?
 
Some outfit in Czech Rep. makes a lame looking Drag style VZ. They also make a manlicher stocked mosin......

I think you'd have to start from bear wood. When I did my ak stock, I had to saw the "steps" part off. It may be possible, but hard. I'd like to see it though.
 
Still if anyone has info on the Dragunov stock that is actually made for the vz58 - I'd like to hear about it - no luck googling it myself so far
 
I don't have the faintest idea how the stock is bolted on.


PS looks like the rail is mounted in more or less the same position as mine, maybe just a bit further back.

Lol...And I so disagree. I wouldn't use the fugly handguards....I'd just stick with the originals (in real wood to match the stock). I would add a wooden cheekpiece for true Dragunov style - but I love that stock. Anyone at all have an idea of where I could even start looking?
