Dream AR Finished!! (image intensive)

Theres really nothing special about a HK lower. I know this wouldnt happen because of logistics but a shoot off with everyones version of their ultimate AR would be very fun.

I`d throw my PWS/ATR/other cool hybrid/mutt into the mix :)

Nice work, Let us know the range report when you get it. Submerge it in water if you can......She can snorkel!
You'll love the Magpul AFG, not sure about the VFG with it though.....My 0.02

You have good taste. There's always something myself or someone else would do differently, of couse. :)

I just finished my 2 year ordeal building my "ideal" AR... I should stop being lazy and post it already...

THAT IS NICE!!~$~!@&^%&^%@!~#

Thanks guys! For those interested in the weight, the stock weight of a 10.4" HK416 is 6.7lb (that's without sights, optics, rail covers, forward grip, etc.)

Mine weighed in at 8.99lbs - even with the lightest grip, sights, rail covers and optic - so short of removing the BUIS and rail covers there's not too terribly much that can be shaved here. The 3T is comparable to a regular flash hider. So call it "2lbs of upgrades".

The only major things I could do would be to exchange the Magpul UBR for a CTR, which would drop the weight by a pound; and if I removed the AFG and/or LaRue grip, I could probably save another 8-12 ounces. That would bring the weight down to around 7.0-7.2lbs (approximately). I do like the UBR, though - because it's fairly front heavy otherwise and this helps balance it out a bit more.

Blaxsun, have you shot it yet? Reason I ask is the hammer has to be tall enough to deactivate the firing pin safety or the gun won't fire. First 2 photos from the following thread:

http://hkpro.com/forum/showthread.php?80049-HK416-SBR-Upper-Compatibility-w-Semi-Auto-Lowers/page2

Hammer that works:

Hammer that doesn't work:

Also, if the hammer is notched on the top front edge (lowering it at this point), there is a good chance the gun won't fire.

This has kept me from buying a Geissele SSA trigger for my MR223 ( http://www.armseast.com/store/index.php?p=catalog&parent=11&pg=1 ). They may have changed the profile to work in this application, but I don't want to spend $235 to find out it doesn't work. The SSF will work:

but it's expensive and difficult to source in Canada.

Here is my MR223 hammer from the side. You can see it has a taller profile and no notch at the top:

and from the top showing the wear mark from the firing pin safety deactivation:

You mentioned Parts list because i'd like to try to get one as well and instead for waiting for someone to sell it on EE for like $8,000 (lol markup due to high demand), Im thinking maybe it's just better if i can build one...

either that or "i'm willing to pay like $8,000 to buy yours" (loljks). Also since it's a 10" barrel, isn't that not legal in Canada? that it has to be at least 16" to be considered legal? buying my first rifle soon and i this one to work up to (cashflow is tight lol)

The upper is the hardest to find. There's a guy bringing in another POF lower so if you (or anyone else) is interested PM me and I'll give you his info so you can get in-touch with him. @$8,00 there wouldn't be that much markup once you price out the individual components less the HK416 upper.

It's a 10.4" factory barrel, actually - so it's 100% legal (if it was cut down it would then be prohibited). There's also apparently a 14.5" factory barrel that's uber-unobtanium...

right right, lol cuz since it's an AR variant, it's already restricted neways and that 16" rule thing doesnt apply neways right?
