Hi Folks,

I'm looking for some opinions/answers on outfitting my Tikka rifle:

Are optilocks worth the money? Does one get the one pice optilock or go seaparate rings and bases? Are these heavy? They look kinda heavy but I've never held 'em...

How 'bout Talley setups? Can you get these in lightweight stainless? Who in Canada, or preferably BC, deals in Talley?

Does anyone got any other ideas for scope mounts? I need 'em to be stainless and prefereably lightweight?

Thanks.

GB

I guess I should look throught the recent threads first! I just found a similar thread from a few days ago but if anyones got some additional tips I'd sure like to hear 'em!

the optilocks are heavy but are really good.

havnt tried talleys but lots of people like them

I have the millet ones and STAY A MILLION MILES AWAY FROM IT. if your at the store and he goes and reaches for them you slap that hand down and tell him 'hell no not the millet rings!'

I've got Leupold rings and bases on my 7-08 they work just fine.
I know my buddy put optilock on his 300wsm, he got his from Italian down on Renfrew, IIRC they weren't cheap?

I just put a set of Optilock SS 1" Low's on my T3 .243. got them from Reliable for about the same price as Wholesale. They mounted them and boresighted my new Leupold VX-iii 3.5x10x40, which i bought elsewhere, while i waited. got decent service from Kenneth imho.. if they're heavy i don't really notice extra weight, the whole gun is light to begin with compared to what i carried before.
i'm happy with them.

Here's another vote for the Optilocks. While they are heavy, they are a very solid ring / base set up. The zero on my rifle hasn't budged in the 3 years since I sighted it in.

I went with a Near Mrg base comes in a 20moa, but you can custom order anything from 0 to 60. Richard is a good guy to deal with. For rings I went with TPS low steel set from ### International. Rock solid set up, the only things that makes the set-up heavy is the Ziess 4.5-14x50 scope.

Rings and bases

I really like the talley lightweights (2.1oz) strong and light, easy to install and I have them on 3 rifles and one is a 338WM and never had a problem with them at all. They are fairly inexspensive at $55.00 canadian from talley direct to your door.
