* Dreyse Model 1907 – Berlin / Kriminal Police
SN 26821
This is a well preserved example of a Berlin Police pistol that remained in service for a long time, during WW1 and probably through WW2
Double marked:
--- K.P.P.B. IV. No 153. (canceled) on left side of frame (for Königliches Polizei Praesidium Berlin, 4th department), arsenal nr: 153
--- K.B. 398 on front tang (for Kriminalpolizei Berlin), arsenal nr: 398
Dreyse Model 1907s supplanted Browning Model 1900s as police pistols in Berlin prior to 1914. Subject Dreyse 07 is one of them, marked K.P.P.B. In the early 1920s, some of these Dreyse were transferred from Berlin city police to the detective force, and marked accordingly : K.B.
Less than 20 Dreyse specimens of Berlin Kriminal Police (Kripo) are known/have been reported so far, as listed in « History Writ In Steel » by Don Maus (2009), p.71
German police marked pistols are definitely my favorites
For your appreciation, fellow collectors
