Drill and tap scope mount for No1 MkIII*?

Actually this rifle has had another re-purposing since these pics. It became somewhat of a challenge to make an Enfield meet all Col Cooper's scout requirements and a few of the desirable traits too. Although the side mount is still there for use with a conventional scope if the need arises to stretch things out, the ATI stocks while nice (they actually got the realtree camo skin treatment that looks even better) are very heavy and have been replaced with lightened wood stocks at half the weight. FWIW the project was a success and it makes weight (6.25lbs as shown below, 7.25 with sling, cheek riser/buttcuff, cleaning kit and Vortex Strikefire)and length (38.75" with original LOP retained and 19"bbl) and can shoot 1.5 MOA or better with the shorter bbl if and when I do my part. Still not quite finished, it needs a couple more tweaks (reinstall irons and mag cutoff, maybe a Lee Speed style mag). Not quite as pretty anymore but extremely light and handy in the bush and the Limbsaver makes it as easy to shoot with as a full wood No.4.

Please keep in mind this rifle was so badly butchered when I received it the list of atrocities would make you gag. I got it given to me for parts but it shot too well with an excellent commercial BSA barrel.
