What's your take on drilling the 1911 frame to add a mount ala 2011 style
also, plan on drilling both sides: c-more mount+ gas pedal thumb rest

I've seen some 1911 drilled & tappd for a scope mount but not many.
Is it safe?

dont worry i wont be doing the drilling and the gun is already past the point of no return

It's safe if done right. Expect to keep the pistol forever unless you can sell it to another competition shooter though if you do.

Although, I am not a competition shooter and did buy a 1911 pistol that had the frame drilled and tapped by the previous owner, who is a competition shooter, I tend to agree with the above statement. Not too many prospective 1911 buyers will want to see drilled/tapped holes, albeit filled with appropriate screws, in the frame of a 1911 pistol they are looking to buy.

In my case, the 1911 is a Caspian frame with a Colt Gold Cup National Match slide. Other parts are custom, including the match bull barrel. Frame was drilled/tapped for an optic site, though.

I personally have no need to add optics to this pistol. I bought it as a "shooter" and paid accordingly. The sum of the parts represent a significant initial outlay to build it for the original owner, however. The pistol has many years and thousands of rounds of life left in it. Therefore, I can live with four filled screw holes in the frame.

Overall, I think I made out like a bandit on this one:

NAA.

it'll be used for competition indeed. I love my burris, but handling a c-more changed my mind.

as to the gas pedal thumb rest well, that'd be to avoid bumping out the sldie stop, I'm a lefty and my support hand likes to rest directly where the slide stop protrudes and sometimes as I shoot, the slide stop gets bumped out and the slide locks half back.

I have a Wilson Combat optic mount for sale in the EE right now..... I bought it from a older gent that is completely retired from competition shooting.

I like the idea of it, but I just can't bear to drill & tap my frame!!!

So now it's up in the EE

Cheers!
