I don't hunt but with Christmas coming up, I'm assuming a ton of drones will be bought. Are you allowed to use a drone for hunting/spotting game?

Not in AB. It is there in the regs no communicating the location of wildlife with manned or unmanned aircraft. Technically you're not even supposed to look out the window on a fly in haha.

We can combine "drone" and "hunting", and call it "douching", and a person who carries a drone for the purpose of hunting is like a bag, in that bags carry things, too. That person would therefore be called a "douchebag".

Not AT ALL directed at the OP. Seriously.

This topic was beat to death last month.

I know if I see a drone while out hunting, it's getting some lead to the vitals ;)

There is this difference between "you CAN" and ... "YOU MAY". Kinda like speeding ... HOWEVER if the "Fish'Feathers'Fur" folks get involved the consequences will be WAY different than if its TC or LEO...!!!!

Like many other things (quads, motor bikes, snowmobiles, etc.) the idiots that use them without regard for anything reasonable, or sensible, or consideration of others, will create a situation where they will get regulated to the point where most of the fun is gone. Rules don't get made for reasonable people; they get made because of idiots proving that rules are necessary. The explosion of drone technology and its consequent abuse will very soon mean that the regulators will have to get involved.

a recent OOD mag had an article about this. Most things related to hunting are illegal, but it did say you can find a dead animal. (but not a wounded one)... not sure how you can tell if an animal is dead or wounded though......

Typically, if it is laying on it's side and it's tongue is hanging out and it isn't blinking, it's dead...... :)

Hunting with drones was specifically mentioned this year in the Manitoba hunting regs.

One of the highlighted "new this year" lines in the regs, and it spelled out that drones are illegal for hunting big game.

This question was asked in another thread about a month ago. In that one the OP was "asking', but already wanting to use drones. So it degenerated to a bunch of personal attacks;people on the technology side calling anyone against it....FUDDS, those against it calling the others unethical.

Pretty sure that whichever side you agree with, it is illegal. Possibly against the terms of use of CGN to discuss. I wonder how long it will take until some attacks happen this time??
