In a nutshell, we have purchased two AR's. A Bushmaster (lower) and an Eagle Arms (lower). Came with magazines. I went out and bought more ten round magazines. Wondered what the reason for the tactipul handles was on the bottom as the Bushmaster magazine when inserted into the Bushmaster rifle will drop free to the ground when the mag release is depressed.

On the other hand... when inserted into the Eagle Arms AR15 it needs to be gently pulled out. It will not drop free and in fact the metal on the mag gets scored on insertion and removal from the Eagle Arms.

Before pointing to the Eagle Arms as the culprit... I bought those extra ten rounders and they will not drop free from any of our AR15's and must be gently pushed in and pulled out.

Is this a common problem and should I be looking for magazines that drop free, especially for IPSC competition? And whose magazines are going to do that?

I also note that there are now several AR manufacturers that are building "handguns" that look a lot like AR's without the buttstock.... and ten round magazines. Are these magazines legal to use in Canada under those circumstances (just asking... I already have bought my LAR-15 magazines made for Rock River Arms by C Products).

The misfitting of the magazines really ticks me off... what's the story with MILSPEC anyway? I'm thinking of taking my dremel tool to the magazines where they are rubbing/scoring on insertion to remove a couple of thou... anyone try this?

Thanks much.
