So went out Thursday and Friday this week. Ranged everywhere from batch hills to penticton and more.

Wasnt a heck of a lot to be seen, saw some white tails in 2 areas (hoping to try for them) and saw a bull moose and a calve (going to go back there and see if a bull is around spike fork)

but anyways got up at 3:30 am friday drove for 2 hours and we were just pulling into a cut block when we saw it. Put a shot through the heart and then the second one hot the neck and mushroomed on the neck.

Got to test out the huntshield knives i bought and they were amazing and my buddies were quite impressed with the shots. (they were thinking i was going to miss so they were setting up to do follow up shots)

Anyways I was an idiot and forgot to take pics, not a huge pic guy and was just happy i dropped my animal before my brother in law got his ;) lol

kinda on a high here lol so thats why im posting Move if it has to but 1,000km driving 1 muley and a few nice potential spots :)

right on! I'm happy to hear that those new knives were put to good use. I hoping to use mine next week. Our rifle season starts on Monday.

LoL! well i cant do that, but if i ever meet you... im sure we can come to a compromise... Steak? ;) i have it aging right now im hope for a roast tomorrow :)

a steak sounds awesome, I hope it's gonna be a moose rib-eye! I'm thinking about going out to visit looky someday, if I go, I'll look you up:) It's pretty far for this old dude to drive all alone, so I'd take the Grey Hound bus. I have the pain of frozen shoulder right now, it can last up to 27 months, so it will be awhile. I would need both arms in good shape in case there is a Vince Lee type on the bus!

completely different feeling eh? only way i know how to describe it is by saying its camping on steroids

Tomorrow I eat something I killed for the first time*. I'm tempted to take the meat to Safeway and have the butcher there Saran Wrap it on styrofoam, and lessen the psychic shock!

*Not including fish, naturally.

I would doubt Safeway would let game anywhere near their equipment. My buddy who is ass. Man. For a thriftys meat department can't even take knives to work that have been used on game.

Congrats to the OP. I just spent 5 days in the hills east of Oliver, and only saw two WT does crossing the road one afternoon. Glad to see others are more successful than me...

Way to go getting your first mule deer! A great feeling, eh?

BTW, if you are from Kamloops, why the heck did you drive 1000k ?

There's lots and lots of game just minutes out of the city.

Did batchelor hills one day only saw does
then roche lake area and peter hope area no luck then went out towards merritt and past the next day.

only 4 points are open so it took some driving to find them.

Ummm...

Either way, you got your buck. Congrats!

Hey AD - nice job. Its a great feeling and good on ya. Surprised you didn't take any pics - how about one of it hanging?

Look 1000K for a deer is pretty reasonable considering how many K we drove to get a calf moose! But it sounds like other locals are chiming in and there probably are closer options - hey you might run into some of the posters to this thread.

Best way to acclimate yourself to the psychic shock is to smear the blood of your kill on your face and walk into the Safeway. It'll drive everyone else in there crazy.
