Dropping powder from a dispenser

Been practicing a bit. Makes a difference. Tapping lightly a dozen or so times on the drum and moving the handle with a bit of authority gets pretty consistant throws. Tapping rapidly and lightly settles the sticks down into more consistent volumes

I reversed the handle on my Harrel so when it is moved up, the powder is dropped from the second hopper into the drum, then I give the lever a slight double tap before dropping it.
When the handle is down, no powder can get into the drum.

I used to use an RCBS "Uniflow". I did not have a baffle in it - rightly or wrongly, I would to run the handle up against a stop, then down to similar stop. Moving handle to "up" filled the cavity, then handle "down" dumped that batch, so the "down stroke" probably vibrated the powder in the hopper a bit - I was usually throwing onto a scale powder pan, though - some "blasting" ammo with Win 748 and Win 760 powder was straight into 243 Win and 308 Win cases, though - maybe check every 10th or so throw on the scale - the "blasting" ammo was well below the red hot pressure limit established for that powder in my rifles. I had that Uniflow thing mounted in an accessory stand - likely 4 or 5 inches above my reloading workbench surface. At the time, I used an RCBS Trickler to bring the powder weight up to scale reading, from the Uniflow throw.
