Dropping the slide on a new gun

Why?

Why, I wonder, is it that anonymous internet commandos insist on insisting that it will cause no damage to the pistol at the very same time as many, many, respected pistolsmiths and many pistol manufacturers tell you not to do it, and proceed to explain the reasons why.

These pile-driving commandos know something that manufacturers and pistolsmiths don't, I guess. :rolleyes:
 
It's like slaming a car door. Does it can damage the car? I don't know. If i want to do it with my car it's my problem, but i would not do this on purpose with other's car.
As for the damage it can do to pistols, I think you get different answer because it may depend on the pistol model/brand/inner mechanism. Maybe some gun get a beat with this and other don't. I don't know for sure so i don't do it with any pistol. It's easy to do after all.
 
A.K. why do you post a technical question like you did,if you don't like the correct technical answer back?Call Wison combat why don't you ask them?Matter of fact call any of the top custom 1911 brands and they will all say- DO NOT DROP YOUR SLIDE ON A EMPTY CHAMBER.Also bear in mind some internet commando droping his slide a million times on you tube does not actually prove anything!Did he take it apart on the same video to show accelerated wear?No he did not.Did he measure his trigger pull after to see how much he ruined his trigger.Nope he did not.Did he perform an accuracy test before and after?Again no,and yes i can guarantee his accuracy in that particular gun will not be the same as before his so called "test".Ah yes good ol' internet commando's they now everything about 1911's,except how to treat them :redface::confused::confused::(:(Oh yeah one more thing your barrel is made to fire rounds at whatever psi you mentioned,the barrel lugs are not designed for the abuse we refer to as slide dropping.So your still plain wrong A.K.This is not just a gun handling isssue,this is still a technical issue,(Operator induced abuse of his\her gun because of a lack of technical knowledge)But you don't like it when someone gives you a technical answer back do you,cause your one of those commando's(And i'm sure you know everything don't you!!:jerkit: sorry for spelling only.Wheres my coffee!!
 
So. . . . All the European target pistol manufacturers who do not include an automatic last round lock open device are incompetent? Fire the last round on a Walther, FAS, Hammerli, MG-2, Benelli, etc and the slide runs home to battery on an empty chamber.

I won't get into the flame thing again but basically, it's not recommended. Once in a while won't matter but done habitually it may never cause you a problem, or it may. But if it's your gun it's your choice.
 
Sorry i'm being misuderstood,i meant i was talking about the 1911.I for one would never dare drop the slide on a empty chamber on ANY semi-auto pistol.

Thats cause they are European crap! Only north American made pistols are worth anything!!! Those pistols that don't lock back on last round only shoot straight for two or three rounds before they wear prematurely.

P.S. This post dripps of sarcasm for those that didn't get it.
P.P.S. Bubba had a stroke in some of the above posts.
