Drum Magazine for MP15-22

The OEM mags were marketed to fit BOTH the rifle and pistol, therefore the RCMP got their panties in a bunch and ruled them 10 rounds based on the marketing for pistol use. As long as an after market mag is labelled for rifle use, there is no limit.
 
interesting - I'd love an aftermarket company to step up and make some canadian 15-22 mags! 25 rounders would be fantastic - and a drum would be heaven!

hilarious (but sad) that I can get a 50rd drum no problem but the factory 25 is 'prohibited'
 
do not try to understand canadian gun laws, no logic what so ever. its all about discouraging gun ownership
 
I've heard the blackdog drums are good doorstops. I'd ask someone that has used one before I spent any hard-earned money on them.

When using cci mini mags, as fast as I can pull trigger, I get 50 consecutive bangers!

IF you can find one, buy it......

I love my 50 round drum for the AR15-22.....works every time, you need to be patient loading it, but what a blast! Got it from Questar last year.
 
All really confusing, the M&P 15-22, no matter the barrel length - AR15 derivative, is restricted, so that limits it to a 10 round mag. Just like the Ruger Charger, which can/is advertised to accept the Ruger BX25 25 round mag, which is prohibited in canada, in theory, at least unpinned.

So is it legal to use a 50 round drum mag in an M&P 15-22?

As long as Black Dog advertises that they designed it for the rifle, it should be good. And they don't mention the 15-22P anywhere on their site. It's all in what the magazine was designed for.

The fact that the rifle is restricted has nothing to do with it. Drums and 26 round mags are available for .22 AR15's.

Non restricted .22lr rifles can have unlimited mag capacity, but I was lead to believe that for restricted .22 it's 10 rounds period.

Owning a Black Dog drum is a separate issue.

generally there are no restrictions on rimfire magazines. Except pistol

Don't listen to range talk, most guys don't know their head from their a**. It is only because there was a picture of the pistol version with the mag that this brew ha ha started. S&W could make another magazine, mark it for rifle use only, and it would be good to go.

Correct. But it doesn't really need to be labeled, just never advertised to fit in the pistol or pictured in one in an advertisement.

1) Fail. Incorrect. Do Not pass go. It is an AR derivative, why? I have no idea. But being restricted has nothing to do with mag capacity. I could have a restricted pump action shotgun that can hold 20 rounds (if mechanically possible).

You were lead incorrectly. And Canadian gun laws don't make any sense. They are not there to, they are only there to trip you up so they have an excuse to steal all your guns.
 
Thanks for the info. Tuco, still a lot to learn. With so many vague rules that apply here but not there, one is always wary of just taking anything for granted.

I guess it'll take me a few years to get them all figured out, but by then they'll have changed things again no doubt.

50 round drum + CCI 22lr + M&P15-22 = FUN, legal fun, got it, thanks.
