Drum Magazine for MP15-22

Thanks for the info. Tuco, still a lot to learn. With so many vague rules that apply here but not there, one is always wary of just taking anything for granted.

I guess it'll take me a few years to get them all figured out, but by then they'll have changed things again no doubt.

50 round drum + CCI 22lr + M&P15-22 = FUN, legal fun, got it, thanks.

Here's a very positive review for it!

You ARE wrong.

so 25 round mags are prohib but 50 round mags are ok...

 I love our gun laws.

Just looked it up on RCMP

1. Magazines designed or manufactured for both rimfire calibre rifles and handguns

Magazines designed to contain rimfire cartridges and designed or manufactured for use in a rifle do not have a regulated capacity. However, magazines designed to contain rimfire cartridges and designed or manufactured for use in a semiautomatic handgun are limited to 10 cartridges. Magazines designed or manufactured for use in both rifles and semiautomatic handguns are subject to the handgun limit of 10 cartridges.

Example:
Smith & Wesson M&P 15-22 rifle and 15-22P pistol chambered for 22LR caliber:

the 10 round magazine is unregulated
the 25 round magazine is a prohibited device

And since Black Dog designed the drum for the rifle, and do not mention the pistol anywhere on the site or in their literature, it is unregulated whereas the S&W magazines were both designed for the rifle and pistol.

I love the Plinker Tactical 35 round stick mags but the first page on their site has one in the pistol :(

they're a smaller company I wonder how many people it would take to get some Canadian "for use in rifle only" printed mags from them. or would that not be legal??

I have talked with Rita a fire technician from GRC today witch was reffered to me by another tech over there. She looks like she knew much about what happen and the way to resolve this. I asked her if someone would release a mag saying carbine magazine on it like the lar15 if this could then be approved. Her response was that if that ever happens then they might do the same rulling as the lar mag and reverse their decision on that specific mag. Also i asked her why if the pistol never got imported they keep that rule, her response is by the law once a pistol starts existing even if it never gets out to Canada the rules apply...
Just does not make any sens

Anyway I have then called Black Dog to try to speak to the owner. After going around I finally got someone that told me is name and that he will be back from Alaska on the 24th. Is name is Kevin and I will give him a call to check if there is any possibility that he could produce a 25 round mag writen carbine magazine.

Maybe one day will be able to get back some 25 mag. Until then Ill do my best to help that cause..

The pistols were imported by Questar. Not many, but there are apparently some in Canada.

Thanks!

Awesome, way to put in the legwork, much appreciated and be sure and keep us posted

I was finally able to talk with the owner from Black Dog. He was not aware that by printing rifle magazine on the 25 round, they could become legal once again. He will be checking closer with Questar and RCMP to make sure that this information is correct and maybe we will see some getting produced shortly...

Not to detract from everyone's effort to work withing the law, BUT... I think efforts would be better spent getting rid of the stupid laws that we are trying to work within. 25 round magazine in my handgun should be fine, 100 round drum in my AR-15 should be fine. We need to focus our efforts on ridding ourselves of silly regulation not spending so much time to try and work within them.

This would obviously be better but the chances of that happening are slim to impossible.. Rules will probably be getting worse than what they are currently. Here is a chance of getting those 25 m&p magazine back without asking to change the law..
