A guy at the range told me I could dry fire my 925 marlin because it has a staggered firing pin blocker which wont allow the pin to contact the rim of the chamber and peen it like other rimfires. i haven't tried it yet because i like the rifle too much to experiment based on what one person says. has anyone else heard about this? it does look like the pin is staggered. just curious???

Hmm thats wierd. Ive never heard of that b4. Just buy some dummy rounds or caps and that way you dont have to worry about it.

I can't say for sure about the Marlin, but my CZ has this feature as well... I called the factory one day to inquire about it and was actually put through to one of their gunsmiths.

He informed me that this is a feature showing up on a lot of newer .22's, including the CZ's. He also said that it definitely works, but there is no way to tell if the safety feature has broken down over time, so it's not something he recommended doing for dry-fire practice. He did say that is was perfectly safe to dry-fire from time to time though.

I chose to buy some snap caps for my dry-fire practice, but I do dry-fire my gun to release the bolt spring if need be.
