I've been hearing a lot of good training aids like the iTarget https://www.itargetpro.com/ for $89us and the Mantis X https://mantisx.com/ for $150us. Anyone on here try either of these or can add an educated opinion on these.
I'm leaning towards the itarget but would love some advice

I really like MantisX. There were a lot of times I would be screaming at it "You're ***king lying!!!!" But I know it is probably right ;)

I also have itarget. Honestly the laser ammo is crap with the backcap part. After a few dozen shots the backcap will fall apart with the touch sensor all not working. You will end up with a bore sight after shot etc etc. I had itarget replaced the original backcap already and the replacement died even faster. Laser ammo is garbage (the first 50-ish shots are great btw, if you just own the product and call this BS.. just wait.. ) but the app is pretty fast to setup and run compare to LASR which require me to turn on my laptop and setup webcam...

On the other hand, there is this production called Surestrike. Their laser ammo are so much better. I put in multiple times more shots (must be over 1000... I do about 100 ~ 200 shots per week at least and I own the Surestrike since Nov 2016 so do the math) with Surestrike and it still going strong. Laser ammo also sells adapters that you can turn your 9mm laser ammo into a 12ga, 20ga, .38/357, 45 CAP, 223 AR15/Tavor rounds. I bought the 12ga adapter for $45CAD so I was having fun with my Mossberg pump. And since I bought the 223 package that already came with the adapter I also used the 223 adapter in my Troy Pump AR.

Laser Lite also has a hammer sound activated laser product. Those might have an issue with activation when you rack the slide. I use the Laser Lite on my Alfa Proj for dry fire using 6 snapcaps in the wheel no problem at all.

Regardless if you are into the laser stuff get the MantisX since it also work with live fire. You can have it installed and take it to the range and check each shot. The laser stuffs are fun but I think the MantisX identified way more mistakes than anything else for me.

Great thanks for the input! I ordered a itarget after reading great review, so I hope a get a good one and it lasts longer than yours did. I'll look into those other one thou

I use both, iTarget and Mantis.

Mantis really helps you with the trigger control and the wobble. iTarget is more fun. It works with any printed targets with black centers. So you can print out 25 m standard pistol targets or B-27 PPC, scale them to whatever distance you shooting from, and practice. Helps to develop muscle memory and stamina in your arms.

Experienced shooters will probably not benefit much from MantisX other than to verify that they can score 96%+ on their MantisX scoring system, but iTarget is probably more useful longer term.

It all depends on where you are in your shooting. Beginners will benefit more from MantisX IMHO as it shows you the fundamental mistakes.

So train with MantisX first then incorporate iTarget and some range time in between....

I don't have either system, but after looking at the promotional videos, the one thing that immediately stood out to me is that with the MantisX system, if your dry fire trg includes Draw and first shot, then it may not be as practical. It mounts a component onto the rail of your gun and if your holster can not accommodate this, then you will have to "simulate" drawing from your holster.

I ordered the ITarget too...hope I don't get a lemon. I also do a lot of dryfire type of drills without any laser, to practise drawing, mag changes, sight transitions. I was hoping the ITarget will help with the initial acquisition from draw. I want to speed up my shots but maintain accuracy.

Because part of the truce you are judged on is your hold the Mantis requires you to hold it still for a few moments before pressing the trigger. Even table draws are an issue. But fwiw I break up my dry fire so that I'm doing some with the mantisx just working on trigger press and then move onto draws etc as a separate drill.
