... makes an awful sound ... a kind of hollow boinging vibrating sound. The nature of the falling-block design, I guess ...

And I have to do it every time I handle the "empty" gun ... unless I want to store it in the cocked position.

Question ... is it harming it, or should I just fire it onto an empty brass (or go buy a snap-cap)?

Dry firing is not going to damage the gun. I just went and checked mine after seeing your post, and I can't say that I notice the sound as being all that unusual.

If it bothers you to dry fire, then just hold the trigger back while closing the lever.

Merci

Hey guys,

Thanks for all the feedback. It sure is a pretty little rifle ... I've got the #1 Light Sporter in 30-06.
