You guys were all correct... I was dry firing while aiming at a deer on the TV and I felt this "click" resonate through my whole body. I looked down and my socks were missing.
Further investigation into the matter revealed that I took them off when I mopped the floor so as not to get them wet. Was a close save though, those socks would have been obliterated
