Hi guys and gals, ive always dry fired my 455 when putting it away, my buddy tells me i should press the trigger while closing the bolt which is what i do with my other rifles. How do you 455 owners do it? i have pressed the trigger upon closing the bolt on my 455 and it does uncock but closes rough. thank you B2

Check the owner's manual if they say anything about dry firing.

IIRC, my CZ452 manual says it is safe to dry fire because the firing pin/bolt design does not allow the pin to hit the breech face at any time.

The 455 actually cocks when you OPEN the bolt, not when you close it. Pulling the trigger while closing the bolt will make no difference. This is why it is necessary to uncock the bolt by hand when you have removed it from the raceway if you wish to store it separately from the rifle.

You can dry fire the 455's any which way you please without issues since there is about .005"-.007" difference between the recess in the bolt face and the length the firing pin protrudes from it when fired...much like a 10/22. The firing pin is robust enough to handle the impact without brass or a snap cap under it and you will not peen the breech face.

He didn't mention storing the bolt separately. If you hold the trigger as you close the bolt, the gun will be uncocked, which is what I do, since I store my 455 with the bolt installed.

The OPs 455 uncocks as he closes the bolt while holding the trigger, just like mine does.
