Hi guys,

I bought this Enfield a few years ago. It was one of those cosmoline and mummy wrapped Fazakerly virgins built in 1955.

The wood seems to be getting drier and drier. If I refinish it with boiled linseed oil will that change the colour a lot? I really like the pale colour of the wood and want to keep it as close to that as possible. If BLO is gonna be too dark are there other options?

Thanks
Baal

If it is just dry and you like the colour, maybe you could try Howard's Feed and Wax first before resorting to refinishing it. Here it is:

I use it on some of my dry stocks with good results (as well as a bunch of other milsurp guys). You can get it at Home Depot last time I checked.
