Yup, it works. Handy for all sorts of rimfires, including 17hmr. Dirt cheap too. Heard about this and then stumbled across a bag of them at home. Perfect fit and seem to be able to withstand a few strikes of the hammer. Probably softer than brass.

You use them as a dummy cartridge to insert into the chamber. It's debateable whether it does any harm or not, but it prevents the firing pin from being dry fired. On some old guns, that could mean a damaged firing pin or barrel face. On newer guns, it simply alleviates the fear that you are doing it harm by having the firing pin slam into nothing but the built in stop within the bolt.
The drywall anchor has a nice little rim that the firing pin can strike. It even gets hooked by the extractor and flings out like a spent casing if you enjoy that sort of thing.

ya but your talking about substituting dry wall anchors as snap caps. understand it now. but i dont see why not just invest in a couple snap caps? unless your looking for the bang?
2 snap caps will cost you $5 OR $10 bucks.

Sorry, there's nothing on the bag I found. Just screws and anchors. Pretty small, because as I say, they fit just right in a 17hmr and presumbly a 22WMR.

wow strike anywhere matches would be incendiary rounds out a pellet gun. lol

This is a drywall anchor. It's a plastic piece you insert into a hole in drywall, and thread a screw into it. It expands and locks in place. It is constructed so similar to a rimfire snap cap, that the right size one's are interchangeable. You often get them free with things so you can hang them on the wall.
Guys...drywall anchors are little plastic plugs that you put into a hole in a piece of drywall so that a screw can take hold.
They are not blanks or caps and there is no bang.
