Dt-11

Yes ...3 of them, but none to my liking. To me they felt bulky, front heavy and not as responsive as my DT-10. ( all 32" Sporters, using same 1 oz. target ammo )

Fit & finish of the DT-11's was very good, as should be expected, but despite a few writers claims, I did not feel any degree of reduced felt recoil over my current Sporter.
Wood on 2 of the 3 was quite nice, the 3rd quite plain. They all fit "close enough" out of the box for a good try-out.

Not sour grapes or envy, just a very different feel to them.
Reminded me a bit of how Kreighoffs feel to me ... good guns, but unwieldy.

The added weight and forward balance I'm sure might please any number of Skeet and/or Trap shooters, but for Sporting & 5-Stand,
and my style of shooting, I'll stick with the more livelier DT-10.

Ty,

I'd use it mainly for trap shooting so extra weight might not be a problem for me.

Just no way for me to try them here so I try to stick with that I know. At that price point, I would also like look at Perazzi/Kolar guns (wich I can't try either).

If you're going to spend that kind of dough, I'd take a weekend and make a (non-buying, just a "look-see) trip down to NY state to one of the bigger gun dealers
where you can actually pick one of these guns up to see how it feels and if it's close to a fit. A number of places "down
below" stock a fair selection of Berettas, Perazzis and Krieghoffs, but I've yet to run into any number of Kolars in any one place.

At worst, you should be able to have a good look at a DT-11 or two on a week-day if you call ahead and make an appointment at Stoeger Canada.
If impossible during the week, Gagnon's ( just a short distance from Stoeger) in Oshawa should be able to accommodate you on a Saturday. Stoeger is
the Canadian distributor & Gagnon's a retailer that works closely with them.

Quebec City is about a 9 hour run to Oshawa ... ( with a stop for gas & a meal) weather permitting. You'll need to be up and out the door by 4:00 a.m.
( I did about the same thing in going to Jacqua's Fine Guns in Finlay, Ohio a number of times ... makes for a very long day running both ways the same day.
Better to stay over for dinner & a good night's sleep ! ) I'd recommend the south side of the St. Lawrence ... 20 west, then cross over to 40 to by-pass
the worst of Montreal traffic to the north, then back to 20 west. QC Hwy 20 merges with ON Hwy 401 ... straight (and very boring ) run into Oshawa which
is just east of Toronto. Mapquest or Google driving directions are your friends. You should be able to find Stoeger & Gagnon's on-line.

You might be able to "kill a couple of birds with one stone" by going into NY state. I would certainly call ahead to make sure appropriate guns are in stock
for you to look at before you go however. American Shooter's Supply in Albany is a big store carrying Beretta, as is Biekirch's in Rochester. Not far from Rochester in Pittsford NY. JTH Agency in Pittsford is both a Perazzi & Kolar dealer. Travel distance to Rochester, NY is about the same as to Oshawa, ON, however it will
take longer on secondary, lower speed highways.

Good luck on your search !

After having owned and having handled and shot many guns..the dt11 is the one I will not part with..

Mine is 32" sporter and felt recoil is similar to a semi..the fit and finish cannot be better..

The triggers are crisp and smooth.

I was more of Perazzi guy but the dt11 is phenomenal..I did feel the muzzle to be a touch heavy but that was comparing to a Perazzi barrel with thinwall chokes...

Ordered a pair of mullers and it feels lighter at the front end...let's see how they work out on the course..

Ty for the great info, both option look interesting.

Called a few dealers and there seem to be a 6 months shipping delay (Xtrap model) so I wont be able to shoot it any time soon anyway.

I might try to go to canadian trap competition in MTL late june. A few vendors should be there with displays.

Had a few shots of a friends DT11 this weekend. It's a 28" used for International Skeet.
Swings fast, very light.
I liked it, just can't afford one.

Who are the big beretta premium dealers in canada?

Stoeger Canada is the Beretta's Distributor for Canada. No Canadian "Galleries" like New York, Dallas etc., and as far as I know,
no "premium Dealers" like Beretta USA's retail network ( eg. Kevin's)

A phone call to Stoeger will generally get you what information you need on their Premium line and a retailer.

Silver Willow in Carstairs just became a Beretta dealer; Don is (or was) a Perazzi dealer too, so you can bet he'll probably be getting in an assortment of the high end stuff to compliment the 725's in the rack.

While the DT-11 may be "treated" like a Premium line shotgun as per Beretta's advertising (and manufactured righ beside the custom benches at the Beretta Due facility, it is a production line shotgun none the less. Basically any Beretta dealer in good standing can order in a DT-11 for you.

The true Premium guns, like the SO's, are another matter altogether.

The DT 10 and DT11 were and are made in the Beretta Premium gunshop. They are NOT production guns. I have been there and can provide pictures! They are hand assembled the same way any SO is. The stocks are cut and made at the back of the Premium gunshop just like the SO. The difference of European versions are that the stock dimensions are sent in by the gunshop while NA gets a NA standard. Two years ago, Beretta offered custom dimensions at the Beretta day in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver. In Europe if you have a hiccup with your DT10 or DT11, it goes back to the gunsmith that built it. I have pictures of same! I had a DT10L and is now shooting a DT11. It has similar recoil to my 391 gas gun. It patterns better than my of DT10L with the same loads. It has less perceived recoil than my DT10L. For some, the DT11 does not work and they have gone with the 692. To each his own! BTW, Beretta sent me some flush Optima Plus Lm chokes last year. They patterned much better than the aftermarket chokes that I had! Plus, it made the shotgun livelier. You can order one from Latulipe in Quebec City or Dante in Montreal has stock!

Henry ...

I am well aware you have toured the Beretta factory ... but notwithstanding, the DT-11 is still a Production gun, not truly custom built, i.e., a "bespoke" gun. They undoubtedly have a fair amount of hand fitting of action/barrel components, hand-checkered stocks and a proper oil finish ... but by their very price alone MSRP +/- $ 9 k US is a good indicator of "production" and a considerable chasm between it and the basic SO-5 custom at $ 27.5K US.

There are comparatively a very large number of DT-11s produced (just as were DT-10s).. forgings, CNC machining and pantograph stock production, and although Beretta has a large staff, there's NO WAY their Custom Shop could produce that many DT-10s and now DT11s on a true custom gun basis. Beretta is even cautious to say they are "treated as a premium gun in every respect" but stop short of saying that they are. And while some stocks may be worked on in the back of the Custom Shop, I'd be very surprised if the bulk are not produced and very nearly final finished at Mechanica del Sarca (been there too ?) Certainly the DT-11s may be "treated as 'Premium' guns in part of the Custom Shop" for some fitting ... but they're no more "Custom" made than comparing a standard"off the shelf",which DT-10s and DT-11s are, or a K-80 or MX-8 to a Holland & Holland Royal Deluxe.
