DTA SRS-a1... talk me into/out of it?

"Thanks for your review! I run an SRS in .308
I am curious about filing transfer bars for adjustment. Is it possible to get pics? short tutorial?

Are all your barrels from DTA or did you source any custom? Possibly in Canada?"

From what I gathered a few years ago (Last time I dealt with this) it was only a few of the GenII's that were affected. Please ensure that you have used ALL of the available adjustment in your trigger and verify that you still desire less creep. If you don't know how to do this please refer to your user manaul for which screw / direction to make the adj. PM'd you my phone number.. if you require give me a shout and I can talk you through it... its the exact instruction that I received from DT when i had this issue and its s*^t simple. I'm happy to help! As far as barrels.. I have used exclusively Desert Tech conversion kits... I have come to trust the quality and like knowing exactly what I can expect.. Prices seem to have gone up a lot since I bought mine tho. Used Prophit River to bring in a few right before the dollar crashed and did alright. Now that the DT has new distributors I think I recall Russ saying that they've put the clamp on "Grey import".

Took it out today, I'm fairly satisfied just wished I brought more ammo.

I know its not 5 shots, but I only had 3 rounds gold medal match left after zeroing.

Did a little load development, only loaded 3 rounds per charge, so not 5 shots again but now I know where to start.

Yep, the factory barrels are made by Lothar Walther. I will be properly going back to 175 smk's after I finish the rest of the vlds I have on hand. Luckily I have the specs of what goes into gold medal match (175 gr smk, 4064, gm210m and gmm brass).

I'm still a novice shooter, it's been about 6 months and 2400 rounds later. I think I'm finally starting to get the hang of it. Once the loads and shooter are dialed in, this should be a laser. Next weekend I'll try 5 rounds groups, If I can get 5 1/2 MOA or better groups I'll be ecstatic.

Any range/status reports?
Happy with accuracy?
Comments on how it shoots Bench, prone or PRS matches?

I'm looking for a 260 Rem, top of list is TRG 22 and PGW Coyote. Hard to compare conventional with bullpup.

Really like the barrel conversion idea. Yeah the kits are expensive ($2.5k for 338LM) but cheap compare to a SB/TT scope for a second rifle.

Time to pop by Reliable for a look/feel.

PS. Both the TRG and Coyote landed is in the $5k range; the SRS is mid $6k (~30% more than the coyote).

See http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/1375992-First-sub-moa-groups-300-yards!! for range reports at 300 yards, I'm actually going to stop shooting groups at 100, and focus on 200m or 300 yards groups and shooting other positions than prone and multiple targets. I have to train like I'm going to shoot, cause muscle memory is a B!itch. I tried to rack the bolt with my right hand, on a left handed rifle while on a barricade. Too much muscle memory on my old rifle, and my 22 trainer. I need to get a lefty 22 now.

I shot my first PRS match today (placed 37/46), and well the US has a totally different take on range safety really relaxed compared to Mission. It was more of a causal shoot with scoring and props to shoot from, still ran pretty well 46 shooters 8 stages 5 hours start to finish all cleaned up, PRS points match too. I had a hell of a time locating the targets, there wasn't any paint left and they blended in really well. I've been spoiled with square range matches, this was really interesting experience. Apparently my DT was the first one that came to their match and actually ran properly. I didn't have a single malfuction, other than when I double fed after not racking the bolt backward enough. I had pulled the mag out and then 2 rounds fell out, I ran empty then proceeded to bend down and pick up said rounds to single feed but only 1 round til time. Single feeding is a B!TCH with a DT due to the 6 locking lugs, you have to get the shoulder past the last lug otherwise it hits bottom of the barrel and binds up. After that I kept a spare mag handy. I have been lucky to get a 10 rnd mag, pretty rare with DT's.

On the kit pricing, once you get a bolt and mags for said calibre family your good to go, only need a new barrel for about 1000$ USD.

I'd have gotten a coyote if they made a left handed version. I'd have gone with a AIAT, but there weren't any leftys available in canada. This was the "last" choice that I could get quickly, do I reget my purchase? Not at all. Getting 1/3 MOA groups at 300 is pretty awesome.

Feel for you lefties. Hopefully you are not one of the cursed lefties with right eye dominant.

Good of you to get out for a match. Walk the walk instead of just talk.

Now that you have successfully done PRS with the SRS would you still get the lefty Coyote or the AIAT if it somehow miraculously in stock somewhere local?

Getting a conventional rifle would have made the transition to lefty so MUCH easier. The bullpup takes a lot of getting used to, as you don't have 1.5 feet to play with before you start moving the barrel. The bullpup every little motion is magnified, so your form has to be spot on.

I'd have prefered a coyote in lefty, but that aint happening.
