Does the Ducks Unlimited branding on shotguns add any value to them? Won a gun last night. And not sure what to do with it it is too nice to hunt ducks with and don't want it to just sit in my safe.

Some private buys might see added value to it with DU badging on it however more times than not they lower the guns value. More so when trying to trade into a gun store.

Hunt ducks with it. That’s what DU is all about. No such thing as “too nice to hunt ducks”. Guns are made to be used and shotguns are used mainly for birds. Enjoy it and remember every hunt that leaves a mark on it as every hunt you take it on it will become more a part of your experience and personal history. Worst thing about “duck guns”, waterfowl models with synthetic stocks and armour finishes, is they leave no marks, no reminders of the hunt, of friends, of dogs, weather, or places.

DU dinner guns are not particularly collectable or valuable. Much more comparable in make/model/condition, than some engraving/etching/or plaque.

That being said, some people dont know that. If your going to sell it, do it in NIB condition. If the engraving and extra polishing is offputting, then sell it and use the money to buy a field grade.

As above^^^

As a "collecting" theme most DU guns are either indifferent quality or in bad taste.
The few that are more refined are worth what an equivalent upgrade gun is worth, at most.
They are promotional items that DU organizers hope to get inebriated diners will bid up to insane heights, as a fundraiser.
They rarely bring anything like their cost.

As Spank and others have stated go out and hunt ducks with your new gun and enjoy it, that's what it was made for. To my knowledge DU guns are not desirable collector pieces that gain any appreciable valve if any.

I hesitated to comment here as several years back I commented on CGN about a fella thinking his DU Win 94 was worth mega dollars. I received a polite tongue lashing by PM message on the subject. The above is purely my opinion based on my experiences and observations.

The DU decoration on otherwise standard models means little to most gun owners/buyers. It gives DU something to promote at their fundraising auctions but is of little interest to those not involved in this organization. Value is not normally enhanced by DU branding but these items frequently auction at far over their true value, it is a fundraiser after all, and some people look at the expense as a form of donation to the cause. Don't expect the price paid for any item at any fundraiser of this type carry over beyond the event.
