Having dual citizinship and dual residency between Canada /U.S.A.
Is it illegall to transport ammunition across the border?Importing going either direction legal?
Own firearms both sides of the border .
:sniper:
with doin some recent reading i feel i could be illegal.....

I think according to the BATF wording, that any ammuniton will require an export permit. You will be fine with ammunition on your person in the USA because you are not considered an alien, so therefore no hunting license or BATF Form "whateveritisthisweek" to have it with you.

Anything being exported across the border I am positive would require the proper paperwork.

Great question for some of the more knowledgable legal guru's on this site, I am sure you'll have a definative answer in no time.

As far as I know , Since you are a US citizen you can only export 1000 rounds with no paper work for personnal use. Canada will allow 5000 rounds but the US will only allow you 1000.

the export rules apply to EVERYONE

if your visiting canada and going to do some shooting you can bring a certian amount of ammo out of the us

its NOT supposed to be an export IE your useing it wheile in canada and returning to the us with whats left..........

Citizenship is irrelevant. Dual or otherwise. So is having two residences. You get to comply with U.S. law and Canadian law.

Also, there's no such thing as "dual residency."

If you are primarily a US resident you can bring the 1000 rounds for personal use while in Canada. If you're primarily a Canadian resident you can't export squat without a permit.
