Not sure what it was for. The one in the tv commercial looked like a 3.5-15 NF size of scope.I have not heard much about them but Bushnell sells one as well. The way I understand it is that you have a red-dot on the SFP that stays at a consistent size as you zoom in and out. The actual reticle is in the FFP so that it subtends correctly at all magnifications.
I take it this was a 1-6X optic or something similar?
It just mean the reticule is first focal and its combined with a red dot in second plane which you can switch off when you dont need it.
You get the best of both optic style in one single unit.
