You can poop 'em out pretty quick with what you got. Take it to the range, run 1000 rounds of light loads on clays, you will be able to then use the force Luke.

Yeah - I've shot tons with this gun - but wanted to keep it set up for deer in the fall and use another gun for grouse and ducks - so thought I may go with something other than a pump for quicker wing and follow up shots.
I like a semi-automatic for duck hunting. In a tight blind I've found an o/u isn't as convenient to reload and the third shot in a semi has come in handy. The best of the breed for waterfowl are the Benellis IMHO however because my waterfowl gun also has to do duty as a back up clays gun I shoot a Beretta 391.
Tried most of 'em, find the 870 Express in camo synthetic to be very reliable, nearly indestructible ( a major consideration, duck blinds and boats are tough on good shotguns ! ) and more than quick enough. Make sure it fits and shoots where you look ! Expensive "B"-gun auto-loaders are nice, and so are over & unders - but it's the old corn-sheller for me !
Browning gold hunter 3 1/2" have shot at least 10 cases of everything from 3 1/2" to trap load through it ,lots of bad weather mud and rain but as a second choice would definately look at a SBE . my .02 worth
What I've used are Win 2200 12 ga, A-5 12 ga (no choke), 1100 20 ga (mod). The A5 fits the best and is my favourite duck gun. Many doubles and triples with that gun; some Scottish.
I used a pump for years, but after shooting some clays at the local club I realised that by pumping the action, you lose some of your swing and have to re-aqcuire your target, especially difficult on targets moving in different directions.
With practice this is easily over come or you can just get a semi. regardless you still need to practice.
Loving mt Rem 1100 3" - 30" bbl. Shot my first triple (on geese) this year. First semi, but this one's not optimal for grouse (IMHO) due to length, and it don't take 2-3/4 cheapos. Wicked for 3" steel though.
This might shock some of you but I have duck hunted 2 sesons with a winchester 1300 with a 24" barrell and I love it. may not be ideal for those high flying honkers but I have nailed ducks out to 50 yards with a modified choke using 3" Winchester high velocity #4 steel shot. And surpisingly it was a clean kill. It was dead as soon as it hit the water pretty much.
In have a 870 with chokes as a back up now..and I also use a Rem 1100 with 28" vent rib tru glo sight barrel 3" magnum with custom kick pad ..fast shots..not much recoil..keeps you on swing for faster shots and other targets of opportunity...magnum will not cycle low brass/low velocity loads..can't speed load because of bottom button system..but you can get off 3 quick shots and the a fourth shot dropped into the open action..for that desparation going away shot....works for me
