Since the season is fast approaching I was wondering where you guys get your steel shot. I'm all stocked up with some score steel for the first half of the season but might need a source down the road.

I wouldn't use that CT crap on waterfowl. You don't have to buy the most expensive stuff either, bite the bullet and pick up a case of Winchester Speed Steel or Remington Nitro Steel in your preferred configiration.

I buy cases of 250 rounds of 3.5" 1&3/8 oz #2 Steel going 1550fps. Still have stuff left over from before LeBaron's folded... IIRC it was $140 or so a case? Remington OR Winchester, either one will do...

I used to use #4 for ducks & #2 for geese, but with the 3.5" shells, I now use #2's for ducks & geese.

Cheers
Jay

Yeah I'm not a fan of the cheap Canadian tire stuff I used to shoot challenger 3" 1 3/8 Oz but they have since discontinued that load and changed their hulls and I'm not a fan of the new loads. I do like what I've seen from the score shells though. I shoot #2s pretty much all season bb for early goose. I generally shoot a flat and a half a season now that I have a kid lol

From my buddy in the US. I order a couple flats of Federal Speed Shok from Rogers in Missouri with free shipping in the lower 48, send it to him and he brings it with him when he comes up on his annual spring & summer fishing trips and again in fall on his hunting trips.

I've been shooting Score for a couple seasons now and it's done me well out of my Silver. The same cannot be said when attempting to fire it out of an 870 express, it always jams on ejection.

Tagged for interest. Really hoping to get into waterfowling this year, dabbled in the past but I'm hoping to really do some this year.

pattern a bunch then decide. in my versamax score patterened the worst by far. in my 870 black cloud did the worst and score was middle of the pack. pattern them. 30 inch circle at 40 yards.

What crap are you referring to? The Winchester Expert High Velocity steel is in the 100 round value pack. Imperial branded is made by Challenger and is excellent ammo just packed 20 to the box to make the price look better.

^^^^ Don't you know that Crappy Tire special orders "crap" from Remington, Winchester, Federal et al which they all build to the crappy specifications that are not available anywhere else.

Of course, one of the site sponsors is the largest supplier of ammunition to Canadian Tire Stores, but I'm sure they send "the good stuff" to the mom/pop stores and only ship the junk to Canadian Tire.

Seriously, do you think Crappy Tire has elf's in the back loading this stuff and putting it Winchester boxes? Really???

Stumbled on to winchester xpert 1 1/16 oz 1625fps last year .local shop sells it for 11.99 a box of 25 .it pattern great out of my maxus with a Lm choke . And stones birds dead in the air . Have used kent and federal in the past with good results . If buying by the flat I purchase from the gundealer and pick it up at one of the sporting clay shoots through the summer .

Picked up 8 cases of SCORE 3 inch 3 shot at WSS last week. $119.00/case.

This. I picked up 4 flats when they were on sale and they are decent shells. I ran s few over the chrony and they are the real deal. Did the same with Winchester and they were 100 fps under the stated 1550 fps. Score also has perfect round shot and the Winchester was all pitted.

Used to use the winchesters from wherever i could grab them but nowdays i have found score from wss serves the same purpose and i am supporting a canadian company as well!

I get my ammo from the Duck Hunters Ammo Store of course.
But, seriously what are you looking for?
Brand, chamber size, shot size or price point.
Local Co-Op's will be getting their ammo shipments pretty soon if they have not already and special pricing will be in effect.
Otherwise your local WSS, Cabelas or heaven forbid Bass Pro or SAIL will have all you need.
Shipping across country doesnt really save much, but if you have had great success with a certain brand and it isnt available closer to home then thats an option.
