We are thinking about going out for ducks and geese on Saturday but I checked the forecast and it is calling for showers and 25 km/h winds. I was wondering how the winds would affect the birds, for example will they just hole up, or will they be flying as normal or something in between? We will be hunting fields, not over water. Thanks.

Its a crapshoot around here. Somedays there wont be a bird in the sky, other days you will get the best shooting you've had.

Seems like the weather never keeps the wooducks down.

High winds are not alway bad as the birds will move more to find better places and fly lower to avoid the wind as they go.

Agree with Supercub. Our best hunting is in the nastier weather. Especially in the fields. 2 years ago it was raining at I swear a 45 degree angle and the geese were coming in like stink on a monkey. I believe that the birds fly lower in crappy weather because they cant see as far, thus making it easier to get them in. Less glare off of everything etc. I just about hate hunting really nice sunny mornings just for that fact. The sun will bounce off of something thats for sure. Have fun! :D

Thats what I was hoping to hear. Hey Cletus, give me a call when you get back from your moose hunt. Maybe we can get together for a hunt. I have a couple of possible spots to try.
