Hello all. A few friends and I are buying new shotguns Friday and want to go duck hunting saturday morning. I was wondering if any of you gentlemen would let me in on some duck hunting areas around libau, stead, agassiz provincial forest or point du bois. Any advice for us first timers would also be great and much appreciated.

I would give the community pastures in libau a try they are on the south side of devils creek there is a dyke road on the northern end of the pasture from what I have been told it actually goes back around 5 miles.I think you have to obtain written permission from the pastue manager he is on the west side of hwy. 59 a mile down road 83N.His contact number is 482-5233.From there he can probably direct you in the right direction.Good luck and happy hunting.

I agree; buying a gun Friday evening and going hunting Saturday morning is a sure recipe for a bad hunt. Don't worry about missing opening day; there'll be plenty of ducks around next weekend. I'd suggest going to the Wpg Trap and Skeet club on Sunday afternoon instead. Mention you're new shooters and need some help. Shooting skeet will exactly mimic what you'll find for ducks. Don't be shy, they are a very helpful and friendly bunch; somebody will gladly show you the ropes. In the mean time, buy your guns and clean them, read the instructions and get comfy with them.

Have to agree with the other members, gotta practice first then go out hunting. Try the marsh, just outside of libau and bring yer wadders boy!!!!

I have to agree with the posts above me also. Any new firearm needs to be cleaned and practiced with before a real hunt. Do what GrouseMan says and go to the Skeet Club and find out how and where it shoots.

Wingshooting is sometimes especially difficult to get into the heads of rifle shooters. They find it very difficult to take the point of aim ahead of the target - their body just won't let them do it. This is why skeet was invented, to learn how to lead and to practise it.

thanks gentlemen for all of the advice. I know you guys have alot more knowledge and experience but i made plans to go so do you guys think i should bring my dad's shotgun, something i have a lot more experience with. I just want to get out there and blast away with my future new toy
