Hey.
So I started duck hunting a couple years ago when I lived in Richmond BC. Now I'm back in Alberta and want to get out to do some more, but I've never been duck hunting here. I've also convinced a buddy to come out and try for the first time.
My girlfriend's parents have some land near Slyvan Lake, and I'm in Penhold every weekend, so that's my main focus areas. Does anybody any tips about where in the area might be good or tips about hunting techniques?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Find water that borders a road that has birds in it. Put out dekes. Shoot ducks.

If you feel the need, contact the land owners that own the land that borders the water, but if you can access it from the road their permission is not required. They know that but will attempt to bluff you off from time to time.

Rivers and lakes are generally free fire zones.

Read and reread the regs for your zone. A duck hunter can legally get a lot more access than you think. Chatting up the locals will get you a lot more.

Your other option is similarly easy, drive around (evening) until you field a loaded with ducks/geese. Knock on the farmers door closet to the field and ask permission to hunt the next day. Set out decoys and shoot ducks/geese. Field and water hunting have their unique advantages/disadvantages but both will put birds in the pot.
