Duck loads

Well, first thing you will need is a loading press. A ponsness warren model 375 is a very nice one. It is a single stage press, very well built and super easy to operate
Another used brand that was cheap and popular was an M E C.
You get a press hopefully it comes with a selection of shot and powder bushing. I have an older Kent brand paper hulled shell that was loaded as a low pressure round and the load it has in it is #5 shot and
30 grams of Tungsten matrix pellets. It is a rolled crimp with a paper over shot card. A system I have no idea how to make. You Tube may be your friend for this.
There may be short plastic hulls. you can use. There is a fellow Wilf Bilozere(sp) who sells specialty shotgun items. he may have every thing you need, including a safe shot to load.
Most products sold for reloading are in groups of 250, for making 10 boxes x 25 shotshells which commonly now refered to as a case of shot shells, or a flat.

Do you have an idea how many shells you think you want to make...?

Excellent advice from FS, I would like to add that finding a good load for YOUR shotgun is a lot of work, sometimes!
In my experience finding that load for my waterfowling came very easily because my hunting partner shoots the same gun as I do :) (Browning Auto 5) and he kindly shared all his hard work
which worked perfectly with my gun also since we have the same barrel characteristics and chokes, this is very very important to know. We shoot steel shot only, very rarely we also use HeviShot when conditions demand it, but it is rare.

Sharing loads very seldom works in guns unless there is the same base characteristics to the chamber, forcing cone, bore and choke, this is why you need to experiment with your own gun and will need to chronograph and pattern your own loads.

The recommendation for Bilozer is a good one but I have another that is excellent, the shop is Sporteque, they are in Drummondville Quebec and they have a website. Also sell BPI and many other products.
The chance that your shotgun is going to like any factory load is completely dependent on you trying it in your gun at the patterning board and chronographing the load since speed makes a big difference for your lead and the killing power/range.

I would second FastSteel advise on the Ponsness Warren 375. I own one and love the factory perfect shells it produces. A quality unit. They can sometimes be had quite inexpensive on the EE as not many are loading shotshells.

I have no experience loading waterfowl loads but it is something I’m interested in and will watch this for recommendations.
